One of my chihuahuas died a couple weeks ago and Farmers Dog sent me the most beautiful calathea (prayer plant). I've wanted one for awhile but figured I would kill it so now I'm learning how to grow a picky, low-light plant. The feeding and water is critical. I'm not much of an indoor plant person so I'm amazed how well your plants look.

Sorry about your chihuahua hugs from the whole family going your way. 💚 I have a few calathea and they weren’t doing so well. Enjoyed your mini indoor tour. Being in Houston, I can appreciate indoor gardening during this time of year. My annual gardening burnout is in full swing now. I look out at my floral garden which is now so overgrown due to all the rain from the hurricane and then from the past 10 days of on and off rain. It's more like a tropical rainforest! However getting out there to do what I need to do is not something I'm interested in doing. I will get it done in spurts just not with gleeful enjoyment. I'm not big on indoor plants except for a few succulents, I have turn more to those as indoor plants. I've found the dark colored and extremely low light required ZZ plant really interesting along with the various Christmas type cactus. Once that first front blows through though, my burnout will pass and motivation will set in. Thanks for sharing.

Indoor garden becomes the place to be in summer days in this TX heat for sure. In cooler places it has been for us a place to enjoy in long winter months it’s flipped now. 😄 I bet the tropical rainforest you got going is just so lushes! I head out here and there to do garden chores but try my best to stay out of the hot sun. Take your time it is very hot even though we’ve had rain. Love growing g succulents indoors too! I’ll have to go shopping for some soon. ZZ plants! 😀 I got two the dark one is very beautiful. Thank you so much for watching. 🙏💐💚💚💚💚💚💚

Beautiful jungle! I do have a question. Doesn't all that steam from the humidifier ruin the wood?

A humidifier won’t damage hardwoods or finished woods. If kept high enough from the ground it should t ruin anything. Also keeping an eye on the humidity levels not going over a certain percentage helps.

Your green room is so pretty and welcoming. I’d want to be in there all the time. I think I’ve asked this before, but with so many indoor plants, do you have issues with gnats? And if so, what do you do?

Thank you! We do get gnats but it’s never a big issue. We try our best to keep sings clean specially the garbage disposal just the home in general clean. Throw away over ripe fruit so it don’t attract them. Once they are in the home they love to be in moist places that’s why they end up laying eggs in plant soil it’s perfect place for them. We do have gnat traps and place fungus gnat killer in soil of indoor plants. We will get a video done on this soon. 💚💚💚💚💚💚
