This is my first video about setting up an indoor garden for veggies and fruits. Showing the basic start up required to successfully grow inside using a tent setup. I have compiled many hours of research into how to properly set this up and I hope this helps everyone.

Nice. I'm growing vegetables indoor too. Im all in on LEDs. Yes the upfront costs are higher. But they are cheeper to run and have fewer parts that could break. And it's a Hobby, after all. Indoor Gardening is for the joy of good vegetables and doing something yourself. Not to save money.

@Jesse Porter Yes and thanks for watching! The container size for all the vegetables I am growing here is a 5 gallon size pot. A 3 gallon pot may be a bit small for tomato roots. This is why I am using 5 gallon fabric pots. I have had two full harvests this winter and the fabric 5 gallon pots were perfect. If you want to see which brand I used, I explain this in my other video which I will post a link to in this thread for you. Happy growing and let me know if you have any more questions. @Jesse Porter I plant all the seeds directly into the 5 gallon pots. No need to start in trays. Treat this just like a regular garden plot and place the seeds directly into the pots spaced out. My mistake with the spinach was the seeds were not buried deep enough and they slid to one side after first watering. However they still grew nicely. Just spread the seeds apart and you will be fine! Awesome video, I have no choice but to copy you. I was watching a video on how worms till the soil and create tunnels through the soil and provide perfect drainage and aeration. Great video! Curious as to what your'e feeding these plants. Are you top feeding them organic nutrients or bottled plant food? I'm wondering if there's any do's or don'ts with the plant food, being that they're going to be eaten. I found the next video explaining the worm castings, but your not feeding them anything else? Bone meal, Seaweed, etc..I take it your water PH is adjusted as well? Thanks for the feedback.

Super helpful! Can you stack shelves with lighting underneath each shelf to maximize the space or does that not work in grow tents? I'm not sure how much the light is maximized inside there but I would like to have a few levels. Please let me know your thoughts.

woah nice big tent, im thinking of doing similar on a smaller scale though. im interested how your citrus do under the hps compared to the MH cause hps tends to make plants stretch more and maybe not bush out with side shoots as much. you have a lot of space in that tent you could easily fit some eggplant, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, potatoes, cucumbers, spring onions, courgettes, pretty much anyyyyyyyyyyything you like eating and it would be cool to try a bunch of things and see how they do. 2 things: your ballast placement is risky, they should be away from combustible materials, sat on a concrete block or something. your store bought soil has fungus gnats and probably other pests. i really recommend coco coir bricks and re-hydrate them, they are pest free, plants grow very well in it with a little added perlite and using the correct npk value liquid fertilizer for the plants that you grow.
@indoorgardeningguy1668
@indoorgardeningguy1668 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your support! The digital ballasts I have are sitting on small risers so no issues. I will also be experimenting with other veggies. The citrus plants are responding very well with the HPS light overhead.

Hello there... I am gathering couple other things before I begin planting. What about fertilizer? I got fish emulsion, worm castings and some other plant "food" granuals. Also did you start the plant like in a tray then transfered them to the bigger pots? Would you consider showing how you set up your tomatoes pots and trellis? Thanks

Thanks for your comment! In my other video referencing “My secret food for vegetables” you will see that I use worm castings. Fish emulsion works well too, however worm castings are far cheaper where I live. I started everything from seed directly in the fabric pots, no need to use trays. Treat it just like an outdoor garden. I'm curious about the lighting. Do you need to adjust the height of your lights for seedling stage or is your lighting set up sufficient for all stages and no need to adjust? I've heard lights need to be very close to the seedlings or they will get leggy. What is your experience?

For MH and HPS bulbs you don’t really need to lower them too much in a reflective tent as it is kind of like “the sun”. For LED lighting I lowered mine to about 1.5 feet above until the seeds germinated. Then I moved them up as far as they could go. LED’s are a little bit less intense and concentrate on a smaller area compared to MH and HPS bulbs. I hope this helps🌱

You should get a inline water filter. Tap water has chlorine and other human safe chemicals. Some plants don't do well with them. And may inhibit beneficial fungus

Thanks and I have never had any issues as the water where I live in Canada has low chlorine levels. I have had outstanding yields for years indoors and out with normal tap water on drip lines. Cheers

Where I live, the water is already filtered and chlorine is added at 1 part per million. The plants will be fine. From the city's water treatment website: How is our water treated? The new plant treats raw (untreated) water using the following process: coarse screening fine screening chemical mixing (if required) flocculation ultra membrane filtration ultraviolet irradiation (secondary membranes only) chlorine gas injection Following filtration, a small amount of chlorine (1 part per million) is added to ensure that bacteria and viruses that may be present do not grow. Please note: fluoride will NOT be added to the City's water.

Surprised to see the light requirements to be described in watts rather than lumens. All energy intensive traditional lighting is being phased out in Europe for LEDs and equivalent. There are exceptions. I didn’t really follow why LEDs weren’t used here? They would produce less heat and would cost a lot less to run?

Bro, if one light covers a 5x5 that’s = to 25 square feet. So 2 lights will cover 50 square feet or a area 5 foot wide by 10 ft long….. your 10x10 is 100 square feet or 4 5x5 squares😂 your 2 whole lights short according to your math. Yep I’ll take your advice lol

@@joinkansas7819 ignorance is disrespectful to me, my time and energy are of extreme importance and value. The very first video I watched started with a gross error. That indicates he is not here to share knowledge because none exists but instead to make money misinforming suckers like you. Ps it’s a great idea to put some really really hot ballast in a small mostly enclosed area next to 50 year old dry lumber such as floor joists. I’m surprised this clown isn’t getting sued after another blind follower burnt his house down with his kids inside. Good luck with your future endeavors
