I love how every 2-6 months we get a fully finished LP from Colin Marston. You just know the dude is cooking up stuff absolutely every single day.

Except that in this case it's a 15 hour album, or 15 albums in one go.😉

Seriously, not to mention it's always a "quality" product. Nothing half-assed here.

This is the kind of ambience I was looking for when I first started listening to carbon based life forms in high school. Makes me nostalgic for all the science documentaries and museums I experienced as a child. Brings to mind the kind of perspective one gets when learning about astronomy and how big the universe is, in both space and time. I love this stuff.

Did you do any studio editing to increase the length, like using PAULXStretch software, or is this all "real-time" recording?
@ColinMarstonOmnisound3 ай бұрын
@davelanciani-dimaensionx: no time-stretching or compression, just "regular" recording with overdubs. in a few places, where things were moving too fast, i repeated a section and then overdubbed on top of it. in some other places i let the overdubs take over and there's an edited gap in the initial synth layer. but that's it for editing. most of this is run-of-the-mill recording. just a lot of it. track 9 "Immersion Crystals" (which is in the 2nd Half video) has no overdubs until the last 27 min, so that one is the closest to a pure live recording. still never tried paulstretch! but what i've heard it do is amazing.

@@ColinMarstonOmnisound Cool. You should definitely try PaulXStretch. It's free and very easy to use. I've used it here and there to create ambient backgrounds for other tracks (mainly on my latest set of videos). It works better with tracks with no drums or percussion, but "stretched" drums add a very interesting sound.

@@ColinMarstonOmnisound this is a really amazing project and absolutely something remarkable for undertaking. Did you have any ideas about what this was going to be like beforehand and how did those change as you put the project together and came to where it is now?

@@KaChowAndTheGang thank you!! I’ve been leading up to this album with all the XI albums, ALL TIME and OLD TIME. They just keep getting longer and more elaborate.
