dang chaos should have capitalize on the engagement on the mid tyranids were really hanging on by a thread there super heavy units and some quick witted decisions and micro won them the match superb team work as well

I must admit that I always forget to use what do you call the abilities using F1, F2, F3, etc keys. It's hard to always remind myself during the heat of battle.

How many streams and regular youtube VODs do you know for vanilla dow2? What's the point playing a game that hasn't been supported by the devs for multiple years and was left with both loads of technical bugs and balance issues when you could play the same game with game-appropriate content additions, better balance and fixed bugs, with actual active technical & media support?

@@Wolf_Larsen There's a lot of people who are stuck in their ways and so don't/never wanted to adapt their gameplay to adjust to a more balance meta. In short they were comfortable abusing overpowered things and either accept that openly or have deluded themselves into thinking they are not overpowered. Others were scared of transitioning into the Elite Mod fearing the player skill there was too high, and this deterred them. Both are dying off with time though as no new players play vanilla. There's no scope for development; nobody there to assist you in getting better; no dev support; no streams/VODs to watch. And now that all the newbies are playing elite you have a better shot of rising from nothing to something playing elite than you do vanilla...

Some advises on how to start as a new player. Firstly find players to play with at the discord channel. discord.gg/jKVfpj3 Secondly direct message the guy named Rambo on discord and try to get into a clan. that way you can play with clan members when no one is present Thirdly, play on friday, weekends and during European night time. Fourthly, download the newest patch from www.dawnofwar.info forum's release section. It is 2.9.1. Fifthly and most importantly, add everyone you meet on elite mod as a steam friend.

I feel like tier 3 for Tyranids is pretty weak. I think if tier 3 removed the psychic backlash on all units, it might make them more viable. It might be a bit strong and in need of adjustments, but at the moment everyone just stops using any Tyranid warriors or the Gaunts that would be effective because of them as without buffs they are useless and are generally just a drain on one's resources. Tier 3 becomes carnifex spam every time. I can understand the need for the psychic backlash in tier 1 and arguably tier 2, but by tier 3 every faction is massing disruption units making it obsolete.

Yeah, that's kinda the point of early units? Your suggestion is in the same league as "let's quadruple banshees hp in tier 3 and make them immune to disruption". I mean why not, they are pretty hard to use in tier 3 when they can be easily one-shot.

@MrVarder If Eldar had a particularly weak tier 3 and relied on solely spamming 1 unit, I might actually agree with that seemingly absurd idea. However, Eldar have Fireprisms, Eldar have Seer Councils, Eldar have Distortion Cannons, Eldar have an Avatar. Plus Eldar have a TON of disruption, mobility and crowd-control on their HQs which allow for units like Banshees to shine even in tier 3. The Tyranids have very little disruption in general, which means that it is very difficult to find an opening for their early-game infantry in the late game (especially in 3v3). Whilst it is true that all factions suffer this to some extent(and they should; otherwise there would be no point in the tiers), it is far harder to get any value out of gaunts or warriors in tier 3 than it is to get value out of upgraded CSM, Banshees, Sluggas or Guardsmen. Genestealers are already painfully squishy, and the seemingly good idea of giving them a melee warrior brood to buff HP and WS is usually a bad idea; as the focused warriors lead to the genestealers being knocked down, and their health pools are still so low that they will generally be dropped to 1 or 2 models (if not outright deleted) before they can get back up. The unviability of warriors means you basically lose your 'knock-back/melee buff' and 'suppression' options due to how easily they are dealt with which also severely limits late game options. In tier 3, what do Tyranids have access to? Lictors, Carnifexes, Neurothropes and Swarmlords. Due to everything already mentioned about the rest of the Tyranid army 'falling off', as well as a lack of disruption/crowd-control; the neurothrope can often be extremely vulnerable (although it is also amazing if you can protect it, something that is often easier to do when you have allies of non-tyranid factions). Lictors are just not well suited to the big blob battles that DoW2 always ends with, meaning that unless you've had a particularly close game with a lot of attrition on both sides; they are usually not worth purchasing. And that leaves Carnifexes and Swarmlords filling a similar role, both unable to excel in melee due to a lack of crowd-control and disruption; making the ranged Carnifexes the best option. And that seems to be why we see Tyranid late games just become nothing but Carnifexes. Personally, I would like to see some more options available, and also have it feel like the rest of my choices are not worthless come late-game. You could also 'fix' the issue by giving Tyranids access to disruption and crowd-control; but I feel like that would make them FAR harder to balance, and be far more work than simply adjusting how warriors/gaunts work.

Dats not true elite mod does and have done changes for teamgames, just mostly for teamgames its about teamwork more than anything else, so long races do good in 1v1 they should do fine for 2v2 or 3v3 as well.

What you going on about every change will affect all game modes not just 1v1, only reason why 1v1 should be base about this idea cos then you can see weather a unit is overpowering or not, in teamgames where there 2 or 3 army's changing around the place kinda to see.

@@boss-jd1uf Maybe I was too harsh to comment that teamgame patches never go through. However I would like to argue that such cases were very few to the point it can be considered that team game based feedbacks almost never get accepted. Like you pointed out, any change will affect all game modes and that means patching for all modes of game is impossible which forces the decision of choosing a single mode as a focus of balance and ignore side effects towards other modes of game while patching for that single chosen mode. For elite, it is 1v1. In this kind of situation, patching for other modes of game should be done with methods that have the least effect on 1v1. One of such method is changing units that cause problems in teams but are almost never used in 1v1. Changing them won't majorly affect 1v1 because they are not used in 1v1 so they can be freely changed. TM beacon moving to T2 is this case. Nobz and termies on the other hand, cannot be changed for team game reasons because both of them are frequently used in 1v1. Likewide, the original poster's idea cannot be accepted because it will definitely affect 1v1.
