The one 'con' is that you can't slide pans around on it. But you can get a pad for your burners from amazon that keeps you from scratching it if you do slide a pan. I cooked on gas for more than 50 years and now love my new induction stove. I wasn't afraid of the cookware requirements as I've used nothing but stainless or cast iron for years now. I'm a bird owner and the gasses let off by hot nonstick will kill pet birds in the house so I threw out all of those things years and years ago. And that pad I mentioned above allows me to use my WWII era cast iron. Being a south Texan I do miss being able to heat up tortillas directly over the flame but a comal works fine. tip: use lower heat with stainless and induction than you might be used to using. You really never need to use really high heat. After 2 months cooking I have yet to have had a reason to turn the burner up even to an 8. I don't mind waiting an extra 30 seconds or a minute, I don't rush around so much that it even matters.

Thanks for this, fellow jersey girl here, now I’m a Texan, lol. I was never into the sliding your pan thing 😁😁 not sure what difference it would make, lol plus I’m not ruining my pans to be fancy like I see others doing. I simply lift it and move it or flip it myself.

@@windsofmarchjourneyperrytr2823 Gas won't be an issue unless you get that nonstick too hot. Even then you won't smell anything yourself and may not even be aware it's happening. But if you never get any too hot then sure it won't be an issue. Also depends on ventilation. If you run a stove vent fan then the fumes will likely just go up the vent. Likely.

It is important to be aware that if the user is fitted with a pacemaker DO NOT cook on an induction hob. Induction cooking employs very powerful magnets that can cause a pacemaker to revert to a datum setting which could be very serious for the user. Beware!

@@booksarediamonds induction cooktops are electromagnetic, they heat the pan using switching magnetic fields. Pacemakers being sensitive to magnetic fields can be a problem. Thank you for this information. We may be moving to an area where if I want a gas stove, like I’ve had for the last 12 years, we have to use propane, which, for a number of reasons I don’t want. I have been hearing about induction stovetops, but mistakenly thought it was a new word for electric glass cooktops, which I also didn’t want. Now I realize there is a choice better than either of those!

I'm so glad this video was full of useful info and some cooking demo. Thank you so much. This video provided crucial info for my wife and I to make an informed decision on our next stove. Some of the induction vs gas videos on KZbin are so useless. I don't need to know how much faster induction will boil water. The important info is temp control for cooking or being able to use my griddle on the cooktop, like this video addressed. Again, thank you for being awesome.

With cast iron cookware on my induction cook top, I put a Teflon mat under it to prevent scratching the ceramic surface. These are called BBQ mats by some of the vendors. You can also use parchment paper under the cast iron cookware. I never rub or shuffle my pots on the ceramic surface unless I have a Teflon or parchment paper protection mat under it.

Interesting point there, it does make sense to use induction in place where there's quite a bit of air flow that usually will disturb you if you're cooking using gas.

I recently used a cheap one and I can say make sure you buy a quality induction that allows temp and duration/duty cycle adjust. The cheap ones try to have just one adjustment but at max wattage and only adjust the the duty cycle. It causes weird things like the water to boil off/on for the cycle and for your eggs to stick because it's too high heat. It seems like induction top in this video is simialry with 1 to 9 and p settings.

I’m moving to an apartment that has what I want except that stove, lol but after seeing this I’m going to give it a try. I find that when I cook with gas, sometimes it takes longer, which is weird. I never had that problem until I moved to Texas lol. Maybe it’s the BTU’s. Where I live now, it bothers me if I put on the ceiling fan in the living room or the AC, it blows the gas. I have some pretty good cookware but it’s taking too long lol. Thanks for this review. I’d rather have my French door fridge with bottom freezer than a gas stove. It’s all about compromise :). Even the smart oven is taking long to cook my food. I’m used to a regular oven, this smart oven is not so smart, lol so I’m open minded when it comes to my new place. I don’t want to lose out on a good place because of a cooktop 🙂

PLEASE DO NOT BUT A BELLING INDUCTION HOB!!! We purchased a Belling Cookcentre in November 2021 and the Induction hob is terrible. It pulses on and off like no other Induction hob. We have had a Bosch for 10 years and it was wonderful, and even a small Tefal one was good, but this Belling one is awful. We have raised it as an issue with Belling but have been told "that's the way it works", and so far told they will not change it or refund us. We are so disappointed, as it makes cooking food at low temperatures almost impossible. For example at level 3 it is ON for 0.5 seconds and then OFF for 7.5 seconds. At level 4 it is on for 1 second and then off for 7 seconds. At level 5 it is on for 1.5 seconds and then off for 6.5 seconds. Even at level 7 it is on for 3.5 seconds and then off for 4.5 seconds! This exaggerated pulsing is awful.

Been using it for some time, literally the worst of the available options. Induction heating is crap. Normal electric is far better. Gas is still best. Anything that needs you to work the pan? With induction, you're shit out of luck. It's inconsistent, you need _just_ the right pans because not even all of the induction rated ones will work right. It's a _mess_. Stay consistent, go with actual heat.

Apart from rushing through the presentation, Tagere does not mention some of the downsides. It is not as effective as gas or ceramic. Settings up to 8 seem to do nothing. You CAN'T move the pan to one side for a moment to reduce the heat. The hob senses that there is not enough pan in contact and switches off, then take quite a while to get going again. All this stroking of the controls is hopeless for someone with a lot of cooking to do. It is vague and imprecise as well as being slow. I have tried all systems and my advice is - stick to ceramic or gas.

All.that power is going out the window. Yes it heats Faster but your killing all nutrients by electromagnetic fields and yes it gets hot faster but you don't need that at all at the cost of 5 times more energy usage.

Where's the cons? Pure promotion clip
@tagereapple213
@tagereapple213 4 жыл бұрын
Getony You are correct in the clip part of your comment. If you were to see my full demos, you would know I always speak of the cons of induction. They are as follows: one cannot toast a tortilla for a Mexican/Latin dish on the non-existent flame, you cannot roast a pepper or eggplant for baba ganoush and as I said in this “clip”, you will burn something if you think this is a flame as most are used to. I no longer work for those people, but induction is induction for the most part and you can find many affordable units that are not at the luxury level or even counter top portables if you aren’t sure about going the distance. Hopefully that somewhat answers your question. Be well, Tageré Side note: Designer Appliances is a great company. Professionalism means a lot and they are on point and courteous.

Tageré Apple my bad if this is a dumb question but can u grill using an induction? Also to ur tortilla toast comment, would u be able to still “toast” if u use like a square pan? (Again, apology for lack of proper terms)

expressfashionman89 sorry I didn’t see your comment notification until now. Yes you can grill. Cast iron is awesome on induction. It heats up in 4-5 minutes on a 5 or 6. Setting which is about medium heat in correlation to gas settings. I use Lodge brand and recommend it. It’s American made and it’s affordable. Just make sure you have your hood sucking up air for at least 5-7 minutes prior as you can build a bit of smoke if you don’t. The even cooking is what works well with grilling on induction as the entire pan is heating at the same time as gas flames fluctuate and with windows open in Summer the breeze can not effect induction like gas. It’s a phenomenal difference. Yes, you also can toast a tortilla in a pan directly. It works great; it’s just not a direct flame as many authentic recipes usually call for. Any really well built oven should provide the browning for toasting you may be looking for as well. Hopefully that answers your not dumb question 😀

After watching this I am certainly glad I don’t have induction! Certain cookware is required, you can’t slide the cookware because you’ll scratch the surface, you can’t see the flame to judge the heat, you can’t use an authentic round bottom wok, so many limitations.
