Thanks for posting this. I remember watching this live on UK Ch 4, which took the French camera footage. There was a big tail wind and long downhill section on the way out, which is why some of the riders were averaging about 57/58 kph. At one point the motobike cameras was showing the speedometer at 80 kph when Chiapucci was on that fastest section. But I also remember the footage showing Sean Yates suffering on the way back up - he said it was "interminable".

It is a fact that, although no proof has been found, all these guys were as high as the Eiffel Tower... That being said, I am bloody proud of Induráin; cycling from that era, with constant attacks, sudden fatigue attacks that would make cyclists lose several minutes, those crazy Pantani faces whilst standing up climbing some ludicrous mountain pass, those insane 80km/h downhills with no helmet, taking newspapers from spectators to use them as windshields inside their shirts, etc... Rominger, Zülle, Pantani, Induráin, Delgado, Riis, Jalabert, Virenque, Zabel, Cipollini, LeBlanc, Abdoujaparov, Chiapucci, Rincón... although they were all as high as shit, in some crazy extreme way, '90s cycling was so much better than today's. Now, the Tour just sucks big time...

Greg thinks that Lance is a cheat and he considers him to be a bad person (Lance destroyed Greg's bicycle business, because Greg called him out on doping).

No. The most incredible time trial was LeMond beating Fignon and winning the tour.

Jim Butler do you think Fignon is comparable a Indurain in a crono 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 are you blind? Indurain literally flies on his bicycle. You are American, isn’t it?

Big Mig is one of the greats. But lets not kid ourselves EPO was around since the 80s and there was no test for it until 2000 or something like that. He doped but so did delgado zulle Riis Tony and Lemond. big Mig was was just the better rider.

Triadlateralus EPO was only invented in the lab in 1988. It wasn't used in sport until about 1993

Wrong. EPO was discovered in 1905. It was given official FDA approval for general use in the US in 1989. Euro pro bike riders were on it in 1988/1989. Multiple pro teams were on it in large quantities by 1990. The entire Team Motorola for example was on it as early as 1991. Indian was most certainly on it when he suddenly started out climbing the best climbers in the world while weighing 20-30 pounds more than many of them. Big Mig was every bit the doper that Lance Dopestrong was.

Lemond never doped. 95 VO2 max. But that wasn't enough against EPO plus physiological freak that was Indurain.

Indurain raced to win the Tour and that takes away energies and makes you avoid risks in curves and descents. Cancellara is not able to win a Tour.
