This camera angle and this rough footage shows just how extreme this sport is and how incredibly brave and "crazy" these drivers are. The pure sound of those engines being pushed to max, the cars whipping around those turns, and each car within inches of each other going 200+ MPH cannot be truly appreciated unless you're right there... this footage is pretty remarkable. @@beenaplumber8379 - there's a reason to this day, that Indy has not gone back to racing at Las Vegas... _the track is the elephant_ ... an open wheel recipe for disaster, too smooth and high banked for open wheeled Indy cars with nearly identically setups, going the same speed. What we saw was 3 to 4 wide, which is not the norm for open wheel racing, and we found that out that wasn't racing... but instead literally Russian roulette with cars...
@beenaplumber8379 Жыл бұрын
@@stevelucero9047 Yes, this track was an asinine place to hold an Indycar race. But if you look at the most devastating and deadly open-wheel crashes, regardless of the venue, the open-wheel launch figures prominently. All the safety advances of recent decades work well when the cars remain on the ground, but as long as open wheel racing ignores the launch, they don't. (The halo is an exception. It works brilliantly in any crash.) Mechanical solutions are simple to employ - simple frame elements (bars & bumpers) that would preserve the open-wheel racing look and feel without allowing launches. Launches kill drivers and destroy careers. Robert Wickens' career-ending crash (open-wheel launch) was the last open-wheel race I watched. Enough already.

Ryan Newman at Daytona, Austin Dillon at Daytona, Jules Bianchi at Japan, Robert Wickens at Pocono and Scott Dixon at Indy, numerous Rally crashes. There is a reason we pray before motorsport races in the USA its because of this. We all know its possible but never think we will see it or be part of it until it happens. I personally never had issues with the track and racing was great but the cars just weren't safe enough. Sadly the lives of Justin Wilson and Dan Wheldon were taken before certain safety features were made. Hopefully as cars get safer we see less and less deaths in all of motorsport.

And u can tell from this video that those cars never should’ve been on this track to begin with especially with a package that made them race so closely. The speeds were crazy and for a package like this it was a recipe for disaster. If they wanted to race there take some of the downforce off so they spread out and make the draft not that strong. This was a nightmare waiting to happen. And unfortunately it took the end of Dan to realize this was a stupid idea after the drivers said over and over that they shouldn’t race there.
@maryschulz86052 жыл бұрын
The IRL raced for years on 1.5 mile tracks (kansas, kentucky, chicagoland, texas, vegas, charlotte) with this package. Racing is dangerous. Greg Moore died on a 2 mile oval with less downforce and cars spread out. They accept the risks.
@tamezzodiac28622 жыл бұрын
@@maryschulz8605 there is a difference between the sport being dangerous, and actively forcing danger. This was obvious it was gonna be a disaster. There is a difference between accepting the risk vrs making ur death bed. This package was so dumb. Doesn't matter if it was 190 on speed either only. The package was the issues. Indy car is dangerous, but that package was just stupid on a track like that.

@tamezzodiac28622 жыл бұрын
@@maryschulz8605 so where were those fans to continue to support it? If they really loved it then Indy car wouldn't of kept falling and falling during that time. If anything, the sport had been in a way better place as of late then before. If fans loved it so much then explain the poor crowd at Vegas when Dan died? Dan went out there and put it on the line for a package that couldn't even fill a small part of the stands. Just embarrassing. A truly great talented man gone cause u need to jerk urself off on ur own entertainment. Indy car is dangerous, but that package was straight stupid at a place like that. It was like the story you already knew what the end was but just had to write the words to get to it. For awhile there was so much speculation and everyone knew what would happen. It was not just a "one time thing." Run that package over and over at a place like that and they will kill drivers the majority of the time. It was the same road nascar found out with the restrictor plate yet they still do it. The speed isn't the problem, bit it's more of the pack racing that is. Nascar had way more crashes, injuries, and close death or death encounters too when they packed everything up. They only do that 5 times a year and forever only 4. Learn the hard way I guess. Call it opinions, but the fans who actually care about racing product and what the drivers think will tell you otherwise. U are on ur island. I suggest u watch WWE and not a game where lives can be changed for entertainment. Knowing and accepting the risks are different then putting urself in a situation where death is almost certain.

The sound of racing is chaos, just like on this video. It surrounds one’s mind until it’s hard to think about the flow of a race that commentators describe.
