Loved Willy in the Trans-Am days! He was good and he didn't take any bullshit, everything a real race car driver needs to be...lol

The world wasn't ready for Willy T. Glad to hear his story now, and appreciate everything he fought for. In all things, competition makes us better, and allowing all competitors makes for a better product. Racing is such a hard business to get into; very much still an elitist sport, but there have been glimmers of hope. iRacing has been the next generation's chance at getting into the sport.

As a race fan since childhood that's also a black person, I was shocked to only recently discover Willy T when watching old TransAm reruns on KZbin a few weeks ago. Then today I see this gem in my recommended videos! I'm definitely gonna have to checkout the film. Thanks for sharing :)

Great interview, cool to here from a trailblazing legend. I remember bumping into Willy at Road America when I was a volunteer paddock worker probably around 1991. He was in a hurry, running to get to his car and accidentally bumped into me, lol. I believe Walter Payton was running Trans Am at the time, I'm curious if the two ever had any racing connection.

No One quite like Willy! Loved all the interviews in the past year and Uppity was so enlightening to see how far racing & life has to go for true equality.

I remember him from an endurance race raced here in Finland at Kemora racetrack. Midsummer 500 I think it was. He was racing with Robert Lappalainen at least and a relative of a Formula 1 Champion I remember...

Willy: do you remember James M. Dinsmore? He passed away in early January. I'm his widow. His ending was not pretty. Reach back if you can.

A legend in the same category as hiro matsushita who I rank far ahead of willy. The guy also hit a marshal and killed him in Vancouver!
@andisadler28972 жыл бұрын
Yes was a viscious slam into the road. No human could have survived that. Marshall got hit by the back wheel, the force the marshall hit the road was madness. I think he was only 22 at the time.
