60 tons for the 2 trucks. great looking pond and just in time for the August heat.
@IndyFarmLife2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for weighing in Ken. (See what I did there) ha. I'll let more people comment before I reveal the amount. Your comment about heat is interesting as we have had a very mild August. It was 61 this morning but in June it was in the 90's

I'm guessing it was about 16 tons of rock. I've done a lot of drilling in Texas clay and I use a 17 lb dig bar to help break up the clay as I dig. I'll have to get my grinder out and sharpen the cutters on the auger to see if that helps. love the beach - nice to have shade so you don't burn the bottoms of your feet.

Thanks! Yea the beach has been awesome. I'm not sure if sharpening it helped or not. I was trying everything I could ha.

Do you suppose the aerator has increased the algae on the pond?
@IndyFarmLife2 жыл бұрын
Not at all! It's pristine now! It's like a turbo on a car...it takes some time to spool up before it works bahaha

@@IndyFarmLife That's good. Where you at? FL? GA? TX? I see you've got blue dye in the pond (for the 'gram of course). lol
@IndyFarmLife2 жыл бұрын
Look at the channel name and take a guess! 😀 The only "gram" it would be for is my kid's grandparents ha. I like the dye for the mental affect for the kids/women and algae reduction. Feels like the Caribbean!

Well despite living in Florida I never go to the beach. The last time was 1980, I think! Tremendous hassle, no parking and a bunch of annoying ugly people. Who knew that you in a rural area would have your own private beach. Now if I had a place like yours I would head over to our local FPL yard and get some free used concrete light poles. They would take the place of your wood border and work as support posts for the sun shelter. Drilling holes is no problem here even with coral rocks thanks to the skid steer's downforce and the carbide bullet teeth on the auger. Like I always say, your family is lucky to have such a resourceful and good looking man like you to transform their space into a mini paradise. If you had the weather we do you could plant some coconut trees and a fast growing ficus for shade.
@chargermopar2 жыл бұрын
I won't even try and guess the weight of gravel you have. Around here the trucks are limited to 17 tons for regular and 25 tons for super dumpers.
@IndyFarmLife2 жыл бұрын
That's a good idea on the border! I may have to look into something like that long term. As the water rises I think I'm going to have to move everything back anyways. Coconut tress would be awesome! Then it really would feel like paradise. I appreciate all your comments and the positive support. I would say you are the most consistent commenter/viewer on the channel. I enjoy the community aspect of all this!

@@IndyFarmLife Thank you for noticing! The only reason I got into KZbin was to see others and interact. So far I have not found anyone locally, so I guess this is the closest I can get. Wonder if you could put palm trees in containers and bring them indoors for the winter? There are cold hardy banana plants that will die back and regrow when the weather warms up like musa basjoo.
