The end product is going to be worth all of the work . In watching these videos , it's amazing what people in the past have considered "repairs" .............

Thanks, Bill. Work is still going on behind the scenes on this car. Building an engine for it now and purchasing parts as I am able. We'll get there and it will be a nice solid street rod.

The 57 is coming along. It helps to have some expert help. Time for a young airman with a 57 story. While I was at Tyndall I noticed my front tire was starting to wear on the inside. It got bad in a hurry and the tire on one side started squealing going down the road. Since we didn't have a auto hobby shop on base and the first Sargent frowned on us working on cars in the barracks parking lot, I decided to take it to a local shop just off the base. The owner told me when I went to pick it up that when he put it up on the lift the right hand tie rod fell off the car. I had to make a Wimpy deal on paying for the work, work on my car today and I will pay you on Tuesday the 15th. On a personal note, I had a good visit with the surgeon and unless he finds something that surprises him, he has taken the big C off the table. He is still going to have to do a little nip and tuck on my colon. Say hello to the gang and keep the videos coming.

Great news, Jerry! I knew you were going to be ok with just a tune up. I bet Jackie is relieved too. I don't remember any place I was PCS that had a auto hobby shop. Always wanted to open one of those as a business but figured it would end up being storage for lazy peoples cars. Keep the 57 stories coming. Any pictures of that car?
@jerrypolk59092 жыл бұрын
@@indyme2 We had a nice auto hobby shop when I was stationed in Charleston SC. They even had a tool room where you could check out tools that you might need. Sorry no pics of my old 57.
@indyme22 жыл бұрын
@@jerrypolk5909 I was TDY somewhere, maybe Mountain Home, Idaho and they had one. Tool room too as I recall but I had no car at the time as I was headed to SEA. How much did it cost to use the shop in Chas? Any lifts?
@jerrypolk59092 жыл бұрын
@@indyme2 They didn't have any lifts just jacks and jackstands, I don't remember what the charge was.

OK, guys where did it come from ? I owned a yellow 57 2 door post in late 60’s. Always mad at myself forever selling that car. It left me sitting on side of road, 20 miles from home. I got mad went bought a 70 Dodge Challenger. Dodge’s we’re all pos then. Own the 70 & 73 Charger. 73 stayed in shop, I owned it less than 6 months before I was ready to say goodbye. After the 73 was in shop, forever a factory rep said they could fix everything wrong with the car for $4000. What I paid for car. Miss my 57, had rebuilt suspension, motor, diamond pleated interior, new paint, Hurst shifter. Really nice car please paint it yellow

Love to hear these old stories, Scout! We all wish we had them back, lol. This car was found in Western North Carolina. It's rough as you can see but I always wanted a 55 and 57 Chevy so I had to save it. Not sure about the color yet. Yellow is BTTB. Still have some old Popular Hot Rodding magazines of Project X. Will probably put it in primer at first just to get it on the road and improve it later. Thanks for sharing your memories and we hope you will follow along with the build!
