These videos evoke some very special memories of my early 1980’s diamond exploration career with CDM Prospecting when we were based at Wereldsend and sampled the region northwards to the Hoanib River bounded by the Skeleton Coast Park to the west. I have indelible memories of seeing the desert elephant and rhino in places such as the Kharokabvlakte and the springs at Hunkab and Crowthers Quelle. Due to the rocky terrain we were changing out suspension shackle bushes on our Land Rovers Pups monthly while we also became quite proficient at replacing gearboxes. The design in those days required the removal of the box seats in the cab to get the gearbox out and due to the broken seals the cab then became a real dust sauna. Subsequently we modified the chassis cross-member to allow for the gearbox to be dropped out. Our rations were supplemented by buying goats at Bergsig where a normal sized goat was priced at R18-00 and the really big ones at R25-00.

@@INEOSGrenadier Guys will it be possible to mount BFG KO2 35x12.5 R17 type tyres on Grenadier as you did? (just in case .. in Germany where I will use the vehicle most - the forest lanes do not require it, in the polar circle region perhaps needed)

it is a real pity that the 2 vehicles have not been fully loaded or even tested with a off road trailer to show they where Propper tested for what they are build for, they could at least carried there own fuel, every off road/overland enthusiast will know that this type travel through Namibia would at least have needed extras fuel. Mudd driving with a empty light weight vehicle is verry different then driving mud with a fully loaded overland vehicle or towing a 4x4 trailer. Really hope grenadier is going to be what they say it is going to be. Well done to them for taking on the task in providing something and give some hope for this market, no one ells will.

You can demand a lot. You are perhaps right, there is a lot what can be tested. I wonder if both Jeep Wrangler and also the Defender, Mercedes G were ever tested under that conditions you demand from Ineos. Only time will tell what the vehicles capabilities will be in reality. From all other vendors they re be pretty quiet even normal testing. At least Ineos allows a lot more insight in the prototype than any other vendor. By ingredients and developer magna steyr we can assume the vehicles capabilities will be excellent. Even if - somebody claims - its not "british" and its "not affordable". My respect to Sir Jim making it possible, and I ordered one. (May be I am biased - currently owning a LR, but this is the best possible workhorse to be offered) If you do not like it - theres Toyota perhaps MB Unimog that may fulfil your needs. But both are also not a bargain. One look more far away I wonder if any these new electric 4x4 vendors try all this with their vehicles under public monitoring?

@@klarie6805 yes lots of respect for INEOS for sharing the whole experience, testing and build. do not think any of the other competitors except for land rover with the camel trophy expeditions have done similar although highly modified i think it still give a lot of confident in the byers/customers , everyone ells only do back yard testing. Ineos with a camel trophy expedition will top it, not to mention the marketing, walk the talk like they say.

@@werner1983 Perhaps. I did a short ride, driving it myself, pretty impressing. (Okay there's always something on the "wish list") that could be better. But in total, any competitor could have done the same. In Europe probably the IG has few competitors, Jeep Wrangler , and next year perhaps Ford Bronco. All others are not intended to do proper off roading. Both have their issues. Jeep is not anymore offered as Diesel, also significant quality issues. Toyota has in Europe the Mister Environment Protector Image and the big offroaders such as available in Australia are not offered officially e.g here in Germany. That would bust their reputation. I need an universal workhorse, 95 mph /160kmh is sufficent, doing all jobs on road and offroad / forest. That is were I need this vehicle. Africa is not what I intend, rather the opposite areas in the very cold and northern hemisphere.. a different challenge than Namibia. Perhaps with a snowmobile on trailer.. (mud of course is something that is in any area a challenge no matter what area)

@@stevemccrory9130 we have some pretty cool wildlife of our own- Elk, Moose, herds of Bison, Bears (Grizzly especially are impressive), Mountain Lions (known by different names depending on the region), Pronghorn Antelope, packs of Wolves, Bighorn Sheep and some amazing birds like Eagles and Condors. And these are just the biggies. We have every type of environment- tropical to arctic, desert and beach sand to mountain rocks. Plus, aside from China, the US is the largest market for the Grenadier. So yeah, they should probably come here. And I’ll tell you, watching the sun set over the desert prairie, with the distant mountains turning a dark shade of purple, while in the foreground a herd of Pronghorns leap through the desert grass chasing a Santa Fe train, one of the iconic lines of the American west, as it trundles along, is pretty spectacular. You should come check us out sometime, you might be surprised. 😉

They didn't do a vehicle walk-around .. told us nothing about the vehicles at all .. are they testing 4x4's or sight seeing. What vehicles are they "testing" petrol - diesel .. are they running lockers .. are they solid axle or independent suspension .. what standard "electrics" are on these vehicles ? ? ? Great scenery but their supposed to be "testing" vehicles !! Very poor advertising attempt .. promotion of a "new vehicle".
