Inventory issues aside, once I got my hands on it, it’s been an effective power unit for me and my family. I have the Flex system w/ 2 batteries and I plan on picking up additional batteries in the future. I have been fortunate to have it avail during several storm related power outages. I use the unit when I travel outdoors as I have a Sprinter Van. Camping, ski trips or my cross country road trip from CA to Massachusetts, my Inergy unit was very useful and sense of backup reliability. Most recent emergency use, 30+ hours of neighborhood wide power outage, my home was the only house on the street running power from our 1500 unit. I kept usage to a minimal (not knowing how much longer it would be). Our home was the only house on the block with WI-FI as my kids did online zoom schooled from home due weather. Are there better stand alone or stackable (Titan) units out there? Yes. Is Inergy perfect, No. But for price, reliable and proven effectiveness, I will stick to Inergy. 👍🏼

I would love to know what's going on at Inergy. They went from the best system on the market in the Kodiak to what looks like a struggling company with unacceptable production delays and questionable quality control (plastic feet falling off, old hot power bricks, basic latches that won't work). The vision and design for the FLEX was awesome, but then it seemed to fall apart. Something is not right over at Inergy.

@@SandiRose2008 ... Sandi, I feel your pain in your decision...maybe this will help. When it comes to cost I've been telling people that it's 75% to 85% cheaper than these "professional" systems installed by 3rd party companies who want to charge $25k to $50k for grid-tied roof systems (with no battery storage). In most of those situations, the cost of the solar system is MUCH more than the energy savings. So why do it, right? Well, don't. Get an off-grid Titan system for much less and use it to reduce your energy bill and you will also have a system big enough to keep your home running if the grid goes down. My system with 2 batteries, solar panels, railing, wiring cost less than $5,600. Bonus, I happen to be doing my taxes now and there's a 26% credit on solar up thru' 2022. This is a $1,400 reduction in my taxes. So really, a Titan might be the most expensive, but it's not when you compare it to other commercial systems that can support your house or cabin.

I had the same problem with the lock. If you don’t have both unlocked and try to lift it, the tabs bend very easily. The only way to fix it was for me to take apart the lid and bend back the tab. The locking tabs are held “locked” by very small magnets-my biggest complaint so far.

I did keep the four panels, cables and 12v light string they sent but had to cancel the rest of my order based on my immediate need. Finally. First review I've seen on this. The wall charger is crap, but that is relatively easily fixable with a 3rd party adjustable charger from Amazon for around $50. Not ideal, obviously, but it is a solution. I would like to point out your personal best-use-case-scenario is for powering a home, a cabin, a tiny house, etc... You seem to use that as your benchmark. That's definitely a steep benchmark, and you are not at fault for making it your benchmark. But I feel more people buy solar generators NOT as a full house solution, but for smaller applications. So while your benchmark works, I feel it is not accurate or as relatable to your broader audience. Calling the Titan the best, well, yeah, it's the best. But it's also the best in part due to being the biggest. And that huge size, scalable or not, isn't what a lot of us are looking for. My suggestion? Divide your personal recommendations based on use-case, based off of inverter size, or based off of total cost. I.E., "the best generator sub $1000 is_____", "the best generator for a full house is the Titan but the best generator for vanlife is____", "the best generator with a 1000 watt inverter is______ and the best generator with a 1500 watt inverter is_____". A breakdown like that might help your viewers narrow down the list to fit their own specific needs.
@minutemanprep2 жыл бұрын
Great suggestions. I am always open to that. I test everything to that benchmark because that is the lense that I am looking at all of these units. I don't use them as novelty or for small events that often. What are ways that you use solar generators that are not for emergency prep?

@@minutemanprep I am currently sitting in my GMC Envoy XUV. My Bluetti EB240 is next to me. It powers my DC fridge, my DC freezer, my lights, laptop, etc... 300 watts solar on the roof and 300 watts solar on the roof of my 4x6 gear trailer. I've got my ALP propane generator running right now as the day was cloudy, so didn't get any solar today. Aka, I live a nomadic lifestyle on the road. Not exactly #vanlife, but not too far from it. To me, the Inergy Flex was, and kind of still is, the ultimate sized machine for my needs. And really, for the needs of anyone doing vanlife. Once a vehicle gets up to the size of #buslife/skoolies though, maybe not. But the ability to run most (read: not ALL, and that's ok) house appliances, and the ability to easily stack your battery bank as large as you need is just awesome. The problem was, and still is, actually getting said generator in-hand to use. I was one of the first backers. But I got a refund once it was clear I would be heading out on the road prior to being able to get the generator. The best dollar-per-watt-hour is the Bluetti EB240, and was available, so I got it instead. I want roughly 5000 watt hours of storage. So I may end up getting another Bluetti. But now that the flex is finally available, I might get it instead. The Titan is too big. Both in physical size and with what it's specs are. The Flex, for me, is that sweet spot. I'm just sad I lost my discount by getting a refund. Which may end up playing into me just buying another Bluetti EB240.

Regarding your 75% efficiency: Reducing the load would actually decrease inverter efficiency (the opposite of what you theorized). Inverters usually operate more efficiently the closer you get to the rated maximum output. BUT, batteries decrease in efficiency when loads are higher. This is based on the Peukert's Exponent for your specific battery. The higher the exponent, the worse your battery operates at higher discharge rates (lower efficiency). However, lithium batteries generally have better efficiency (lower exponents), meaning what while they still experience greater inefficiency at higher loads, it's much less than, say, a flooded lead acid battery. So, your 75% efficiency is likely a combination of both inverter and battery inefficiency, and there may be a sweet spot between inverter load efficiency and battery load efficiency for your particular setup.

I need to devise away to test the output of the standard charger. When I was charging my battery for the first time the battery showed 51 watts on the display but the charge time was more equal to 100 watts of input to the battery. The battery was shipped with 31% charge but only took 7 hours to reach 100%. So I'm not sure I trust the displays math. Great video by the way. 👍
@minutemanprep2 жыл бұрын
Very interesting. The easiest way to test that is to plug you wall charger into a Kill A Watt Meter and see what the true energy usage is.
@DSMLivin2 жыл бұрын
@Minute Man Prep I used my Kodiak and a kill a watt meter with both the original Kodiak charger and the standard wall charger that came with the Flex. Each charged at 86 watts independently or 156 watts when plugged into each battery. Seems the batteries are internally wired at 24 volts then wired 12 volts for output. That would explain the display showing half the amount when plugged into battery and the solar input runs through the separate MPPT charge controller on the power head and displays correctly when usingthe EC8 connection. But I'm wrong a lot 😎

Honestly at this point there really is no contest. I don't even own a Titan but the very fact the batteries are separate gives the consumer the ability to keep or recoup half their investment even if the inverter/controller fails. This screams value and exceptionalism in design. It's unmatched solar input is another standout. I think people need to consider this. When it comes to purchasing these generators. I personally close my wallet at around a $1000 bucks. I'm not comfortable beyond this price point because of increasing issues with quality control. And I feel much more comfortable having a couple mid- range popular name generators than a suspect top-tier device of the same brand. Because if there is a issue with the internals, it's basically a complete loss unless it's repairable at a cost-effective price. I'd personally rip it apart to harvest the cells and even the inverter if I couldn't get it fixed. I waste nothing especially my time and money.

We never received it. Then we bought extra batteries. We've used the generator (inside the house) a handful of times. It is now dead about 2.5 or so years later. Of course, it's out of warranty! Garbage! They have terrible reviews on the BBB site, BTW.

I have 8 batteries and the1head unit. This Flex unit is maxed out at 5 batteries per stack.(They claim 96 batteries can be used at once.) The problem I have is connecting all 8 batteries.Inergy promised a connection plate to connect all stacks. NEVER HAPPENED...So now (last 5 years) I've only been able to use 5 batteries.Anyone else have more than 5 batteries? Let me know...Thanks. ps Tried to contact Inergy for 6 months+ and no reply at all.

They sell a fast wall charger.
@minutemanprep2 жыл бұрын
Good point, but even a Jackery 1500 comes with a 300w wall charger, and the EcoFlow Delta an 800w wall charger are standard chargers. So I can those other units that don't have expandable batteries with fast wall chargers. It just seems like for the price that should be a simple upgrade that's included. But instead the standard is a 5yr old wall charger. That just feels like they're nit picking customers to get more money out of them.
@sarahloy8302 жыл бұрын
@@minutemanprep The fast charge is great but you get more cycles from these type batteries if the charge is slower. I'm glad I have the option to slow charge because that is all I need most of the time and I want to preserve my investment.
@minutemanprep2 жыл бұрын
@@sarahloy830 Indeed you're correct. That's one of the cool features of the Delta Max, it has a switch that allows you to choose fast or slow charging without having to have a different kind of wall charger.

We have used the kzbin.infoUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

How do I get solar panels for my inergy unit. Want to buy panels and plugs. Can you help.
@minutemanprep2 жыл бұрын
I would use three of these 200w panels: poweredportablesolar.com/product/200w-rigid-solar-panel/ because you'll stay well below the max solar input parameter on the Flex 1500 and be up to 600w of panels connected. Then you just need an EC8 to MC4 adapter.

I don't think this was a very accurate review whatsoever. Alot of your critiques are non existent if you read the manual first. When you tried to remove the top unit from the stack of 2, one of the locks was not open, when you lifted one side(which it clearly says not to), it bent the other side, making the lock stick. The rubber feet are not meant to be an accessory, they are for initial shipping. They stack so there would be no point to those, the metal feet are tough as nails. Every complaint you have they have fixed, so it doesent feel right that this video is still out there. I would say the only complaint I had with the system is that I had to wait 6 months for it. I was pretty mad, but after realizing that it was not really thier fault and Lithium is in such short supply, it was an eye opener. Don't know how we are supposed to switch to electric cars when we can't even get generators going. It was a good video, but I remember watching it before I got mybsystem and I ended up buying another system, and it was absolutely horrendous. This was mostly because your video steered me away from it. Maybe update?

I would certainly love to have a way to simply power a tiny window air conditioner from solar. But I`m not wealthy enough with a small social security income. Biden lied about a stimulus check and ruined my plans to get a LiFePo4 battery bank and finish my system for my camper.

Dang that's definitely very hard to go through. If you're interested in trying to earn a side income in crypto let me know, I have videos coming out where you can easily make about $1,500/mo from a $5,000 investment. Before you say you can't get $5,000 together, you have to figure out how much $1,500/mo extra is truly worth it to you? Anyway, just trying to give an idea that could help improve the crappy situation Joe has put us all in.

I had been weight for mine for a year I called at 6 months " no joy" I then called at 8 months "no joy". Finally, in December after 1 year, they sent me an email stating not till "MARCH MAYBE" after 15 months I have no faith that I would ever see it so I asked for my money back.

If SHTF with Russia or others is within "WEEKS", then getting my Titan ordered Feb 28, 2022 MIGHT be delivered to an empty and possibly destroyed home. I was told "May sometime". Let's hope !
