The medals are just how well you did in a FATE! Exp, gil, etc are given based on what rank you get.. Special boss FATES like Odin have how many items dropped based on it and things that require you to do either specific FATES or a certain amount usually require you get a gold.
@mazusagou19462 жыл бұрын
Also, patron deities used to decide your strongest and weakest elemental resistance when that was still a thing. Now it's just a lore thing and only shows up during eternal bonding ceremonies. There also used to be notable differences in physical and magical defense in gear and the dragoon gear had quite notably low magic defense. Playing dragoon with wind weakness against Garuda back in the day sure was not fun.

Back in the day, FFXIV used to have magic damage divided into the different elemental types, and you had different resistance stats for the elemental types, and there were items in the game to boost specific resistances. If you were going into Garuda Extreme you would stock up on wind resistance items, for example. Your patron deity gave you a minor permanent resistance boost to the element they were associated with. Eventually they simplified all the magic damage types into just "magic damage" and removed the stats and the deity bonuses.

I was told I get a mount at 20? New players are frequently confused by the fact that Character level and MSQ level ARE different. SE has scaled the XP earned via MSQ to allow players to level by ONLY playing MSQ for that section of the game. If a player runs roulettes or does sidequests, leves or fates they can quickly outlevel the MSQ. It would have been nice when they mentioned the MSQ if she said if you ever see an MSQ is available then THAT should be what you do next. This series is great! Hi Garrett... for your seal turn in woes... There is a drop down box when turning in that allows you to hide items in your Armory Chest. Along with this, if you go to... ESC > Character Config > Item settings and untick "Store all newly obtained items in the Armory Chest", new gear will go into your bags instead of your Armory. Going directly into armory is useful early, but once you reach 50+ I find you are getting repeat/trash gear much more often than gear you actually want to use (which you can add to your armory manually). That way, you can easily deal with anything you want to keep by sending to armory or dropping in your glam chest before hitting up the seal vendor, and all that will be left is trash to munch through.

IIRC, there are two points of consideration while going for the roulettes: XP/quest and XP/minute. Using XP/minute is the most common one, and by that standard, the order from best to worst is: Trial, Alliance Raid, Leveling, Frontlines, MSQ, 50/60/etc, Normal Raid, Guidhest. Usually the ones that gives less XP reward more tomes.

For anyone unclear: medals in fates matter a bitttt for your reward. You get a bronze, silver or gold depending on your participation and the participation of others in the same fate. For most fates it just determines how much XP, Gil and company seals you may get, but for fates with unique rewards (like Odins Mantel for example) you may get more or less of the unique reward depending on your participation (for Odin, you get 5 mantels for a gold, 1 for silver, 0 for bronze).

That way you can select what you want to keep and equip it or, set it aside for turn in later. :) I didn't learn that until I was almost with MSQ XD!

I will never understand why people don't read the Active Help pop ups when they start they game. And then they accuse the game of not explaining things. Not a knock on you specifically, just something I have noticed with a lot of players. Anyway, there are Medals in FATEs, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. More Gil and experience (+ achievements and unique rewards for some dates), if you get gold than silver and bronze and more Gil if you get silver than bronze. PS: When you give Gear for GC Seals, you can lock Gear you use for other classes and they do not appear to the UI so you cannot give it away. I basically turn gear for GC Seals automatically without even looking at the screen. PS2: There is no delay. You have to watch the cast bar, not the animation. The effect is tuned to your cast bar.

I actually used Fantasia to change from a catboy to... The other kind of catboy. 😂 It wasn't til I had played the game a little while that I found out the other tribe had cat eyes, I hadn't realized there were physical differences like that between tribes. So now my catboy is a Seeker of the Sun with a Keeper of the Moon name. 🤷♂️

Guys .... for GrandCompany turn ins you can use the drop down option to only see gear you don't have on a GearSet or move all the gear you don't want on hand and use the same drop down to hide all Armory Chest gear. This is so you don't have to panic or worry if your trashing something you wanted to keep

In response to the comment about turning in gear for seals, u can make it easy. When your in the turn in screen you can limit where the items your picking will be from. You can select inventory only, pull all the stuff you wanna get rid of out of the armory chest and into inventory.
@klabence2 жыл бұрын
I just want to mention, you can make sort put different categories of items on different pages of your inventory. It will put gear on the first, then consumables on the second, then materials/tokens on the third.

There's a "Hide Set Gear" when turning in gear to the Grand Company. Top left corner. Useful for when you don't want your WoL to suddenly be naked when class changing.

You really should do a reaction to the documentary, though. It's very well made and indepth. Not to argumentum ad populum but every other content creator I've seen who has watched it has enjoyed it. And the fans love watching it too.

Put all the gear you want to turn into Grand Company seals in your main inventory beforehand, Then you can just open the trader's menu and direct it to "inventory only", and tap the Num-pad 0 key, It'll turn them in much faster than manually clicking. Chocobo storage is a good in-between if you don't want to turn-in an item, but also don't want it in your armory.
@KylerStern3662 жыл бұрын
I had the same problem turning armor in to the grand company, a tip that works for me is you can choose to hide armory chest items. So anything I want to keep for future jobs or whatever I put in my armory chest them dump everything in my inventory. Then later I'll go through my armory chest and anything I don't want anymore ill put back into my inventory. Don't know how many times I turned in something I needed before i started doing this 😆

My trick for turning in gear for Grand Company seals (yes I know I'm 3 months late, but for anyone catching up like me ^^) is to set all dropped gear to go into inventory instead of armory chest. Then I can move what I want to keep into my armory chest, hide armory chest in the turn-in menu, then I know all the things showing are things I'm ok with letting go.

There are two videos I will always recommend to anyone, but the caveat is that they can not be watched until after you finish Shadowbringers (and possibly the first wing of Eden depending on how you feel about boss spoilers). A creator by the name Denmo McStronghuge has two of the best videos that show off the community on his channel in "Road Trip" and "Don't Dance Alone Eorzea." I know you two will love them both.

Around 20:00 I believe it's a .3 second snap shot of your last read location determines whether you take damage or not. Later fights this becomes a lil bit harder and I recommend making enemy cast bars HUGE to give you more of a heads up for mechanics.

16:16 - idk if you know this or not but there is actually Extra storage bags on your Chocobro!!! These bags can be accessed any time (except in a duty). Great for keeping things you want handy but dont use all the time, like dye, prisms, collection coins etc :)

I am a little sad I haven't seen anyone recommend Denmo McStronghuge! He is a master of editing and he's been around since 1.0. His Dance Eorzea series is awesome, and just....anything with Mr. Face. Seriously, go watch a Mr. Face video. You're safe to watch anything he's posted pre-ShB release, though his best stuff is more recent. And if you don't mind some looks at contextless environment shots, his latest ("Denmo McLawnGnome") was great!

super helpful tip that makes that gear turn-in screen for company seals ACTUALLY useful and preferred: at the top of the window underneath expert delivery is a drop down box, change that selector to "hide gear part of a gearset". if you've been updating your gearsets as usual, the gear will automatically show up in that list when you're done with it. the only thing you have now to think of when going through that list is any gear you were specifically collecting for glam, everything else will be "sellable trash"

As veteran's who have a mountain of knowledge I'm sure when we all saw this cute little series we all had to stop and be like, well they didn't talk about this thing or this thing which is extremely useful to know then you stop and go oh this is for people who have played the game for a couple of hours, they don't need to know everything just yet.

re: the "hot topic catgirl", that's actually the starter set for miqos just like the derplander was completely default also to add, on the (anything) to miqo pipeline: There's a reason for this but its not something that Square would want to advertise - miqos and lalafells are significantly more expressive in their emotes than some of the other race choices, and in a game that's msq is mostly listening to other characters talk and then cutting back to your character for a reaction shot, that helps a lot. I have a friend who plays an au ra and he's made a lot of jokes over the years about his WoL's head empty no thoughts stare, and Preach has a similar bit about his femroe default (when he hasn't changed it to go clubbing with a much smaller character lol) but there's more to it than "catgirl sexy"

So, for one: the gear you get in the hall of the novice isn't just glam, it's the best available gear until you hit like lvl 30. Any class starting at lvl 1, you want to get it when you hit lvl 15 because you do not have a lot of gear options to get at that point. Secondly, even if you sell/scrap that, be it on accident or whatever, running the matching part of the Hall of Novice again will give it to you again provided you do not currently own the gear (you cannot have 2 sets of any of those pieces at a time, not sure if glamour dresser counts though). I think that also applies to the exp buff ring... so again, I repeat, do this for every class starting at lvl 1 if you do not have the set when you're at lvl 15.
@TGCidolfus08302 жыл бұрын
In regards to your grievance with giving items for company seals, you can have it set to only list items in your inventory (not armory) so you can shove all useless items to there and with impunity turn those in. You can also set it so all new loot goes into your inventory and not gear armories as well, this is more useful when you are max level... but yes clicking directly from your bag would still be a 1000 times better.

Advice on Gold Saucer is needed: Go do the Gold Saucer intro - until you do that Triple Triad cards won't drop for you. Also the glamour quests should be mentioned, the crystals and dyes are kind of important.

So, it's interesting to note that the English starter guide series is completely different from the one in Japanese (both of which you can find on the official FFXIV youtube channel). The Japanese one's presentation is much simpler visually (only using in-game graphics and a chalkboard with text in it), shorter in length (each being under or around 2 minutes), and surprisingly helpful gameplay-wise. I'm not sure the exact release order but I watched the first four of them after the Live from the Producer LXIII and they were much more class and general mechanics-focused than the "how to do your MSQ" style of the English one. The first two showed off how to handle the different aoe effects and other mechanics (turn around for the purple eyeball, stack for the big open orange circle, get out of AOEs, move away from the aoe after the green meteor icon disappears, etc.). The one about DPS goes into using the combo system and how positional attacks work. The healer one goes into your role as a healer, how to target different party members, how to use Esuna and Raise, and, probably the most hilariously controversial point, that you should also be doing damage in your spare time! I honestly wish there was a translated version of the Japanese versions since they're good references for new players too.

Starting in Shadowbringers, you DO get currency for FATEs (Bicolour gems) that can be turned in for various things, from ground mount speed, to orchestrion rolls, to minions, to crafting materials.

Also, the recruit-a-friend benefits the recruitee as well: they get a head armour piece that boosts EXP gain up to level 25, and the /fistbump emote, plus a bunch of aetheryte tickets and, iirc, Silver Chocobo Feathers that they can turn in for Ironworks gear at 50, Shire gear at 60, and so on. The recruiter gets an item that allows them to right-click on sprouts on their friends list and teleport to the nearest aetheryte for free, as well as the gold chocobo feathers, /fistbump, and Friendship Circlet (EXP+% helm).

Lol is it a carryover WoW thing? My inventory looks.. IDENTICAL (well mostly) to Garrett's lol. Def have that bottom corner reserved for misc items! I actually found these videos cute, and surprisingly helpful (after playing for 2+ years and having all jobs at 90 lol). They could be viewed as a lil cringe, but I didn't find them so, but maybe you're right.. being a FF fan makes you more receptive to it? Love your clips channel! Your promo was cute, and I had actually just finished watching that 9 hour stream so.. fit well lol.

One of the more amusing things with FFXIV endgame, while it is generally true that there are no differences between the races, occasionally you will have the stat differences between the tribes cause a stat spread to fall across a stat tier... and actually make for different BiS's for jobs at endgame. This has occurred with the 6.2 DRK endgame (if you go by the balance). The appropriate response to this isn't to fantasia, but to point and laugh at the complete absurdity of the situation that a +1 or +2 bonus to strength actually matters at endgame. If you are curious about this, check out the Balance and Allagan Studies discords for more information on the FFXIV stat tiering and how this absurd situation came about.

Have you taken the time to look at the Side Stories listed on the Lodestone site? There are number of them, called "Tales from the xxx" that provide a FASCINATING read about lore and shows us the thoughts of NPCs we've impacted along the way. You should make a video about it!
