Great idea! You can put a rain chain on the end if you don’t like it shooting out at the end. Just food for thought!
@DDIY-Guy Жыл бұрын
yes, I was thinking of adding that but saw that those rain chains are really expensive. I might be able to us just a regular chain though with a flower pot filled with river rocks at the bottom. Anyway, good idea though. Great minds think alike :-)

@@DDIY-Guy agreed! And I should’ve elaborated on just using a galvanized chain from Lowe’s / HD haha

I’m really surprised though how expensive those rain chains are… but yes galvanized chain will do the job as good :-). Have a great rest of the week!

I came up with the same idea. However, I have 4 sides on my pergola, and I have to make it go around corners and end up all at one corner to have a runoff for the water. I haven't done this yet, so looking for help. Thank you for the video.
@DDIY-Guy11 ай бұрын
great to hear the video has inspired you to do a similar solution. It sounds like you will have to bend the corners to get around to the other side and have a continuous flow without any leaks. You will see some examples of methods to do this on youtube similar to gutters. One suggestion would be, you can do overlapping corners then using chalking to seal the joints.

Let me know how to goes. Mine has been working great. It doesn't do well in torrential down pour but that doesn't happy very much in my area :-)

Where did you find that drip edge?
@enoch3274 ай бұрын
Good ideas. Not sure it would work in Texas where our rain is bigger and harder than most rain. I let the rain from my gutters dig a rock sized hole. Then I put the rock in it so that the rock is flush with the ground. You could use bricks or cinder blocks. I am going to design my own home made wooden gutters. Anyway great video.

Hi, seems like the key to this project is the particular product, and I can't find it by searching for item you mentioned in the video. Can you please provide link to the product? Thanks.

I picked it up at Home depot at the roofing area. Here is the link to the exact product I got: www.homedepot.ca/product/peak-roof-edge-flashing--brown--2-34-inch-x-78-inch-x-34-inch-x-38-inch/1000163410?eid=PS_GO_140203__ALL_PLA-526641&pid=1000163410

How does that hold up in the winter months with snow and ice?
@DDIY-Guy9 ай бұрын
It's held up in the winter months so far but we've had a mild winter this year. I will need to clean out some of the leaves that have collected in the gutters since it easily blocks the flow of water and it overflows over the edge.

Great idea and video! DO you happen to have a link to these flash edgings? I cant find them as cheap as you mentions

i got them at the local home depot in canada. it’s best to just go there and looking in the roofing section. there should be a rack of standing flashing

Looking to do the exact same thing and I found the same material at Home Depot here in Toronto. How has this siding held up for you and have you found the groove to be sufficient with our rainfall and also snow? Or do you wish it was larger?
@DDIY-Guy9 ай бұрын
It held up fine over the winter months but I just have to clean up the debris that has collected. As for it being bigger, it would not look as nice and as part of the roof. It works for light to medium level rain but not for heavy rainfall when the water just overflows. Luckily, there is not too much torrential down pours in my area.

Yes, Ilive in Canada and it held up this past winter, although we didn't get a lot of snow this year. I need to do some spring gutter cleaning since there is lots of leaves That gave collected over the winter.
