First Cummins isx 2000-2003 best motor! i have 1.8million miles on my 2000 volvo. Fuell pump was failed on 1.3million miles, mechanics put new one for obove $1700 with labor, after 2003 cumins will make you bankruptcy.

Did lots of those type repairs when I worked at the dealership, complete engine replacements to crank swaps etc, sadly the new diamond coated metal rods fail too.

@@BulletMcNugget hello , hi i have a statement and two questions #! i thought the oil filter would catch any metal or ceramic fragments from the bottom of the oil pan then pumped up going into the oil filter and be stuck into the oil filter as a garbage collector and the oil is pumped out of filter feeding into the engine . QUESTION 1# CAN this happened to an ISX engine of a 2007 model 379 peterbilt truck ?? #2 if you do not mind me asking the temperature coolant gauge inside the truck when the coolant level is at 0 the temperature gauge it's not working properly where is the temperature sensor located on an ISX engine that may need to be replaced ?? Like you said thare is an upgrade for the plungers which is the new metal type, and the rollers were updated twice, the latest version has a free floating roller pin, i typically see fuel pump damage on engines with poor engine oil change intervals, these parts go under extreme pressure. Lastly I recommend to update the ECM calibration as the thighter clearances in the metal plungers pervent the proper function of the injector performance test (IPT).

Hey bro did you end up just switching out the plungers, tappets, rollers and reusing the bottom half of the fuel pump still? My bottom half of fuel pump has some scratches on it. I'm not sure if I should buy a whole new pump or just update the head.

How long did this truck run after this? Im getting a low fuel pressure at full throttle. Probably had it come on 7 or 9 times. Going to rebuild head this week.

Hi , I have a freightliner cascadia 2013 , with a 2/2012 isx 15 450st engine , the color of the fuel pump its still red , carfax and recall websites say that there is 0 recall for my truck vin , my truck shows 700k engine miles , and 600 k cab miles , I'm wondering if my fuel pump has been upgraded do to highly mileage or needs to be replaced, also I will like to know if there is an upgrade kit or even better a repair kit that replace the ceramic parts. I believe that my truck its a cm2250 .thanks in advanced.

I see this issue on the Isl 9 Engines too. It will give us a fuel differential pressure code. So how did you diagnose the issue to point you towards the injection pump?

I would think that the oil filter would be the line of defense to protect all the critical engine internals. Did cummins place this pump in the oil system between filters and internals? You would think the purge oil coming out of this pump would dump back into the oil reservoir. Guess I'm old school but the old 855 was the engine that built cummins a name that the later engines have been destroying.

Picked up a 2012 Pete less than a year ago from a Pete dealership as a backup truck. Ran fine until a week ago., low rail pressure. They insisted the fuel filter was cracked. Told them to bypass the filter and check it again. Turns out it has the ceramic "rods" and they failed. They also said that they were "surprised it wasn't taken care of during the recall". Now I'm waiting to hear back from them on their estimate and how they're gonna screw me.

Any help in this will be appreciated , just today my pump started to leak diesel from the pump while initially idle . It stops after about one minute and does not seam to leak while it runs , ? any ideas ?

Raymundo Rios theres little washers on the banjo bolts, maybe it started to leak there. One of them couldve ripped and causes fuel to leak thru

Could you tell me why I seem to have a leak between where the low pressure gear pump mounts to the fuel pump gear housing? If it's a seal would that seal be part of rebuild kit?

Kevin Cortes never tried upgrading on that old, and the egr delete on those is pretty much weld the egr valve and leave the connector disconnected. Real easy on those.

Timothy Giesalhart could be something fuel related, yes. Could be valves not adjusted properly too.

MyCarIsNotBlack no, those r a bit more tricky. That only worked on the 05-06 engines. But idk to much about detroits so I dont wanna say something that might not be true

I tried to buy the the recall kit from dealership and they said it was only in the system as a kit with pump head for $2300..............

Possibly they got higher pricing. Over here, its about 1400-1500 bucks max. For the pump head, not the pump.

every how many mile do they go bad i have 2014 cm2350 has 460k mile on it getting low turbo boost 20 psi when i hit a hill then it goes to 30 psi turbo was rebuilt a couple months ago not sure what to do with it any more this thing is bankrupting me

My fuel pump on this engine failed in Waco Texas I was in a 2015 Volvo the engine was basically destroyed they had to put in a new rebuilt engine thank Christ it was under warranty... I never knew this was an actual issue

@@BulletMcNugget I hope the pump didn't go out, I have an 03 Volvo and I have to spray starter fluid to get it to run, then I shut off for a couple hours it won't start back, at idle it seems like it's running ruff, I changed the fuel filter in the glass, I wonder if it's any more filters that could cause this besides a fuel pump? I need all the help I can get because I'm under a load now. Thank you

M. D. The 03 doesnt have this kind of fuel pump, that fall apart so u dont have to worry about that. But on those could be the fuel transfer pump or the actual gear pump. Or losing fuel pressure somewhere if it is in fact a fuel issue

You can upgrade by replacing fuel pump head cost you almost $1,700.00. That’s crazy whole fuel pump is like $4,000.00 bucks Too much.
