Infamous Pioneer In Travel Ended Up Where? | Merriweather Lewis Historic Site on Natchez Trace
We stayed at this location in the campground however there is so much more to this than just a place to lay your head at night. In fact this site has a history which paved the way for progress, moved people and items as a part of one of the first major "highways" and more. Come explore Merriweather Lewis Historic Site with us and learn more.

I never really cared for history in school if I would’ve had someone like you teaching me history, I would’ve been so into it. I feel so compelled to watch every single one of these videos. I’ve actually enjoyed learning about things about our country because it seems interesting the way that you tell the stories. I wish teachers would have used the same techniques to teach us but then again they couldn’t go to the places because they’re confined to a classroom so I guess that was what made the bigger difference.

Oh thank you so much!! I find it to be fascinating that history throughout our country has some main characters which can be found in so many location. When you look at it from the perspective of an ongoing plot line it seems more like a creative writing story or a movie.... in my mind it plays out as such so i try to share the knowledge so we can all follow along in a very common sense way

This one ties into so many others we have seen on the channel in way of Lewis and Clark so I certainly wanted to share it!! Despite having more primitive means of travel if is baffling to know how much these men truly moved around the country!

No problem! I always enjoy sharing different brain wrinkles because we all can learn from the various places that we visit this one tying into so many other places that we’ve been in the past was really cool and so it tells a bit more of the overall story

Thank you so much!! I love sharing the travel and adventure side of things but sometimes knowing more about why we are there or have that space can be beneficial for setting the tone that even though these are recreation areas they once were something much more...

As a kid, my family drove part of the Natchez trace. I wasn’t interested in history back then. This is just a reminder that I need to do the trip again

I think as an adult, you would really enjoy it. There’s so many wonderful stops and I will get back to showing some more of those on my upcoming couple of videos, but I definitely recommend giving it a shot as an adult.

I was there the end of March! Loved the campground. I’m not sure why I didn’t walk any of the trails. Now I wish I had.

Ah. Checked my journal. I spent March 22 there and it was rainy. I guess I didn’t feel like walking in the rain. Haha

Make sense.. could be quite muddy in the rain for sure... but next time you check it out make sure you take a little trail or two.. if nothing else the interpretive one.. very short but filled with brain wrinkles!!

Try arriving at National Park historic sites very early in morning with steaming cup of coffee. (I walk the dog.) "Locals are on the trails and many enjoy chatting. A 30" walk and I begin to feel like a local too.

You know, I think you would have been my favorite history teacher back in the day...that is if you'd been around in the late 70s, hehe. Serious question: Have you ever considered a career as a school teacher? You're a natural educator, Bunny.

My mom is a public educator and unfortunately I have seen that the public education system is not something I would personally want to be a part of the teachers are wonderful but with the constant battle for a state testing and funding and things like that, it just becomes overwhelming, so I can’t see myself sitting in a classroom daily talking about the same things. I really truly enjoy more so the movement and freedom of being able to share these stories with people who come to my KZbin channel who are eager to learn the material or interested in the things that I’m talking about because those are the people who truly enjoy and embrace the places that I am visiting. Unfortunately I feel like so many people are just trying to hurry up and get out of school that they don’t necessarily want to sink into bits like this, and furthermore, the curriculum of most of the schools would limit the amount that I can actually speak on most of the subjects that I cover. Partially because of timing but partially because of the unfortunate nature of the world we live in today where is subjective and some schools do not want to educate because it could make too much and that’s sad because the knowledge is something that I think makes us all better at the end of the day, but so many would prefer to have the blanket of control by limiting the knowledge of the young minds (also super sorry if any of this sounds crazy. I was talk texting because my keyboard on my phone was not working)

@@BunnyPlaysHereI understand. I have heard about some of the challenges within the school system in Texas. Just keep what you're doing and we'll keep watching.
