This is amazing wargaming content and among the best on youtube. Thanks for doing this my dear Lardies :) Great job Richard. You are a very good wargaming rules designer.

What a great job you've done at capturing the ferocity of a German ambush!

Very much enjoyed the Infamy Infamy series so far, and looking forward to the rules. The Fervour system is pure, simple, genius and it certainly inspired me to give another hard look at the fantasy rules I was writing years ago and got utterly stuck with. Anyway, rules pre-ordered and probably will send out orders for a Batavian army later this weekend ;) Damn it you are doing it again.

This honestly looks more polished, accessible, and entertaining than any wargame Games Workshop or Privateer Press have ever created.

I have just been getting back into miniatures gaming during the lockdown and picked Britain during the Dark Ages to game. Been road testing 3 sets of rules , L’art de le Guerre, Dux Bellorum and your own Dux Brittanniarum. As I mostly play alone I have found your rule set to be the best for me due to the randomness built into it , keeps me on my toes and guessing every turn. Well done , you got new customer!

I felt like playing a game a bit ago, by myself. What A Tanker was an easy one to quickly set up, and as fair is a non issue in solo, I could just toss it down quick on the kitchen table. TFL games are pretty ideal for solo.

I’m really enjoying this series. Love the flavour of the different unit types being baked into some simple rules, and the degrading ability to manage command and control.

What a little belter Richard, bravissimo 👏👏 I love the way Infamy, Infamy! gives a real sense of the period. Some of the mechanics feel like a more refined version of those in Sharp Practice and I might be trying a few out for the later periods. I particularly like starting with all cards in hand. It's great to see your take on playing solo.

Looking interesting as a game. I kind of like how the forces become sort of disjointed and disconnected because of the ambush points. Makes it feel very skirmishy

Wow that ambush was awesome Rich, I think that’s definitely an interesting rule. I’m looking forward to seeing how the legionaries are going to deal with the harassing skirmish troops 😁

"Harassing Oiky Gits"! I'll have to remember that term. Great video. I'm hooked. Now I just have to acquire and paint up some Romans and Barbarians. In you next supplement, do the Ponts of Mithradates get to make an appearance?

Looking good do far. Can you give more rule detail in the next video as there are a lot of unanswered questions such as how fervour is removed, why always 8 dice to fight, need that extra bit of detail please. How do you work out your army, do you get set units and add in a few extras like CoC?
@donavis7244 жыл бұрын
Fervour is removed by accruing shock - each point of shock takes off one fervour. Fervour is capped at 6. Normal Warriors get a base 8 dice, Elites 10, Levy 6 etc. For combat the base dice are then adjusted by using tactical advantages and unit characteristics. Thus for example Barbarians charging to combat who have Fervour, always get a Ferocious charge of +2 dice and an additional dice for every 2 points of Fervour they have. Thus optimally a normal Barbarian Warrior could get 8 base dice, +2 for a Ferocious Charge +3 for Fervour taking that up to13. There are other adjusters but you get the picture!

Terrain seemd not to influence how the combat was calculated. Do skirmishers not gain any advantage over other types of troop in a wood? If not how does terrain impact the game, is it just on movement? Loving the videos and am busy building up forces.

Interesting that you have saving rolls in melee unlike the other rulesets. Always thought melee was particularly lethal in SP and CoC. Is it a rule that might have been considered for CoC or SP?
@andyhawes58664 жыл бұрын
Great stuff! Quick question - you said before the first combat that although you were tackling it group by group the results were applied across the whole combat yet in the last fight there you seemed to work out the results for the first group scuffle before doing the second. Is that how it works - even in formations the combat is done group by group or should the casualties have been added up and results applied across both the Roman and German formations once all combat dice had been rolled?
@donavis7244 жыл бұрын
It is group by group but as the fighting is considered simultaneous and every bout of close combat lasts two rounds, the result of one group v group after the first round could affect an adjacent combat in the second round. Thus for example if one group routs it’s opponent in the first round, if it doesn’t follow up it could provide an overlap to its adjacent friends in the second round. Hope that makes sense!
@toofatlardies4 жыл бұрын
Andy Hawes it’s done by group. So you don’t share the effects with any groups fighting in a different portion of the combat. What’s key is that you fight the first round for both parts before going on to the second round. The results of each round can affect this adjacent such as providing support if an enemy withdraws.

Hello, Rich! Nice stuff, kept me intrigued till the end of the video. Germans seem to be lucky to throw such dice. I know you play tested the rules. But I will ask you any way. The battle in the woods was against Roman auxiliaries in skirmish formation and from the ambush. And again the Germans were helped by the die God. :) Is there any chance for them to win a fight against Roman regular legionaries on an open ground?
@toofatlardies4 жыл бұрын
They need to use their skirmishers to frustrate the Legion and chip away. The their Warriors must get their Fervour up and make the most of their numerical advantage. It's a close run thing. If they lose their Fervour they should pull off and reform before going in again. If they can keep the pressure on with darting attacks from cavalry to stop the Romans rallying and get back in they can win. Both sides must play to their strengths.

Ordered my Big Bundle!! Just need to dust off my Romans and Barbarians! Rich, in the mele there, is it effectively simultaneous combat, so any shock or casualties are applied after both protagonists have rolled? Or is there an advantage for one side going first, i.e. combat effects are immediately applied.
@toofatlardies4 жыл бұрын
No advantage. There IS an advantage to charging in before your opponent gets the charge on you, but once in combat it is simultaneous.
@dancarson14794 жыл бұрын
When do the rules come out?. Are the cards available separately?

The rules are released on the 29th of June. The cards will be available separately, but at the money we are taking advanced orders for bundles. You need the rules and the cards as a basic entry level game.

During the second part of the ambush melee, the German group with Sleepy Egbert managed two kills on the Romans (@28:25) to which the Romans failed to save. Did you forget to put an extra two shock on the Romans for those kills?
