On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

During Desert Storm we were strafing trench lines at about 2000m with the coax on our tank at night. Tracer burnout for 7.62 is 800m and the rounds were going up into the air at almost a 45 degree angle. Cool thing is that you could see the dust kicking up all up and down the trench lines. Those guys didn’t even know where that accurate fire was coming from.

The modeling in DCS is a big forgiving for the Mi-8/17. It’s really not that tough in reality. The tail boom is weak under load and the fuel tanks cause instant fires when hit (they are basically beer cans with fuel strapped to the fuselage). I flew them for about 5 years; great helicopter and easy to maintain, but certainly not as tough on the battlefield as DCS makes them out to be. Their greatest strengths are their gearboxes and segmented aluminum blades. For those familiar with western helicopters, the Mi-17 doesn’t even have a torque gauge, just a blade pitch indicator, ITT and Ng for power monitoring. They aren’t worried about an overtorque on the gearboxes.

I wouldn't mind seeing a series of 2v2 fox-2 dogfights against opponents less... "supermaneuverable" than the felon. It'd be interesting to see how the apache gun - especially a pair providing mutual support - complicates things for aircraft that don't perform like a UFO or rotary aircraft.

...and that sir is the way it ends. How are you at the Huey Gunships circa '69, C-model, min-gun 2X7 shot pods or "Hog", 2X19 shot pod. These flight crews flew at tree tops or lower, door gunners prevented the helicopter from being shot at unless the enemy had a good shot, but once he did, gunner would suppress fire with fire.

1:23 One of, sure, but I think the scariest would be to see an AC-130U "Spooky" starting to circle above. At that point you just reevaluate all of your life choices to determine if it's been a good run or not and then kiss your ass good bye as an airborne howitzer has it's way with you. That said, with GS doing a lot of ground attack missions lately, I could defiantly go for some gunship videos of the ridiculously excessive expenditures of ammunition kind.
