I just had surgery on my hand for flexor S. I was bitten by my cat during an abcess drain and it got infected. I couldn't believe how fast the infection spread. Monday night = cat bite, Friday night = emergency surgery on my finger and palm. One comment I overheard was, "we might be able to save the finger", that was chilling! I got more information from this video then I got from 4 days in the hospital. The IV antibiotics knocked me for a loop, killed off ALL my gut bacteria and precipitated an entire 10 day period of diarrhea, yeast infection and cramps. So now I am repopulating my gut, smearing Monistat on my entire peri-anal region and taking short walks to loosen my cramps and getting everything working again. One of my nurses recommended that I watch this video to receive information that I could see and understand. Boy Howdy! She was right!! I was working as a Vet Tech when I got bit by a cat and within an hour. My hand was infected. Within two hours I was being prepped for surgery because that’s how severely infected my hand already was. I had no idea infection could spread so fast. It was an older cat with a very very, unclean mouth filled with bacteria. Cats are already notorious for the bacteria and their mouth but this cat was particularly Filthy. I ended up finding out I was pregnant before being rushed into surgery, for that reason, they could not put me under and had to keep me awake for the whole surgery After the surgery, I had to have my hand, Deb bed every single day for a month, ended up, having to have a second surgery, followed by daily debridements, and finally had to have a third surgery. Had drain tubes the whole 9 yards. My husband was in California at NTC training being prepared to deploy Iraq when not only did I get bit, find out I was pregnant, but had three surgeries all while being awake. It was a month of hell. Now, 16 years later, I find myself on this post because I had a myxoid cyst on my finger, we lanced it two days ago, and yesterday my hand starts to swell. So I’m looking for relief. I’ve never met anyone who had a cat bite on their finger like I did!

@@comm1000project immediately the laceration filled with serum/pus. Within 60 minutes it was oozing. Severely swollen and so bad so that the physician at the urgent care center. I went to called a hand surgeon and when he learned of the injury told me to go meet him in the parking lot at the hospital. He met me in the parking lot took one look at it and said I’m prepping you for surgery right now I went on to have 3 surgeries and 60 painful surgical packing done daily until it finally healed. They called in several different infectious disease specialists from all over the state who said they had never seen an infection like it 😳😵. The bacteria entered the bone and it was a nightmare!

Great visuals and knowledge. Deep understanding. What would you do if you are 1 -2 days from doctor. A Canadian logger told me when they got poked with a fray of the steel choker rope that goes right through leather...... Get boiling water in one pot(it cools down in the mountain air), another of cold water. Infected hand into hot, when cool enough, then into cold . You're pumping the blood in and out as well as giving bacteria the message to get the hell out. It's worked for me many times since 24. I'm now 70.

Thanks for this. I’m going to try it in the morning. I’ve never heard of this technique but it makes sense to me. I’ve used hot water to deactivate bee stings that would usually make me swell up, and to stop mosquito bites being itchy.

Last year I had a huge infection on my right index finger. It was so large, that it was almost twice the size of my left index finger. I did not need surgery, but I had to use a liquidized antibiotic for over a month.

I had a felon and to anyone who would need some info here is my experience. I applied a lotion prescribed by my doctor and it became softer with time. Hence I thought that i would burst it. As i was studying on my table, i took my pen, and with the needle(as it was not that sharp and i was less scared), I started *scratching* it *little to little* and gradually with focus on that point(where it was yellow) all the green thing came out. Being grossed, i cleaned it with with the cotton. It started swelling. All phases came after that. Awkward feeling , swelling and the other day it started shrinking(I feeled very very irritated as it was very swelling)! As it was night already I decided to apply an antiseptic and sleep. It was the best decision. And the other 2 days it was same as that day (I survived that anyhow). After nearly about 2 weeks, It was all gone. Moral: Don't cut your nails with your teeths. Take a nursery manners book and read it:)

@@horrifier6608 as i have squished it, i would say the comfort you are getting now you would definetely not get after you squeeze that. But even if you leave it, it would take time. If you squish it, your hands would scream you to remove your dermis skin as it will feel itchy. Please don't remove that if you by any chance remove that. I would prescribe not to remove. As it will be getting older it would release those sebum and it wouldn't quite really swell. All my energies to you❤️❤️

Thank you! I had a small incision in my right index finger the other day which was cleaned out and tested positive for MRSA. I was given strong antibiotic's and been feeling better. Had the pack removed yesterday and have a appointment with my surgeon on monday and with the infection and disease expert in 10 days. They are keeping a eye on my culture they did the other day during my surgery. My Surgeon wants to keep a sharp eye on my infection since it's MRSA. He said there was a concern spot of black skin in the middle of my finger so I might need a skin graph later.

I got a bone infection in my left thumb after breaking a small drill but and it going thru my nail into the bone, I put super glue on the nail to stop the bleeding, bad idea. A month later I couldn't take the pain anymore and was admitted to the hospital for 5 days and had surgery to remove the dead stuff and then Iv antibiotics for two months after. I'm a diabetic by the way and an auto tech, now on my right hand I have something in my ring finger that feels infected coz the pain radiating up my hand and arm feels a lot like the thumb I described before. I've been to two drs for workers comp so far and they haven't taken blood or anything. I go see their ortho Dr Tuesday to see what he says. Anybody with medical experience have any ideas on what to say to them to get treated correctly? They don't seem to be listening right now and now my whole body is hurting , I feel sick. They started me on keflex and gave a shot of rosephrin. I know what happened in the past could have killed me or at the very least lost my hand so I'm a lil concerned, that's what the drs said anyway

Well. No diagnosis here... My thumb finger is swollen from the last joint to the end, I feel my heart beating in it but the pain is like a 1 even when I squeeze it and move it around. No visible bumps or discoloration. Ice water feels okay, but didn't reduce inflammation any .. slightly warm water feels like my finger is on fire. I'm trying a mild antibiotic cream but symptoms don't fit the bill for any of these... It's just swollen and heat sensitive. 🧐🤷‍♂️
