I am becoming increasingly concerned that Inferno might actually be a wizard, or have signed some sort of pact with the devil to pull off some of the technical black magic he has been able to achieve. A physics-based retro shooter with voxel graphics is, without any exaggeration, a concept that I would pay full price to a big studio for. To think you guys did all of this mostly solo on a game engine held together by duct tape, popsicle sticks, and prayer, is nothing short of a biblical miracle...
@GimmickBox392 жыл бұрын
Idc if it came out in 2007, it's not a retro shooter, and also the game engine isn't very bad even by today's standards.
@TheBlackBrickStudios2 жыл бұрын
@@GimmickBox39 Halo 3 is a retro game. It came out fifteen years ago. In 07, retro games were games like Sonic 2, the original Mario Kart, Mortal Kombat 1, Wolfenstein 3D, etc, and all those games came out in 92, fifteen years prior to 07. Halo 3 is a retro game. And you saying that Halo 2/3 has a good engine means that you have never worked on them under the hood. I'm not saying that Halo 2 or 3 functioned poorly for the end user, but the code all looks like indecipherable runes that only work through miracle. I did Custom Edition modding back in the day, and tried to mod Halo 2 a couple of times, but it was insanity. I got curious recently and checked out the H2/H3 mod tools for MCC to rekindle some of that old childhood magic and it nearly drove me insane, and I literally work as a freelance code monkey... Loving the games doesn't mean that they can't be made on awful engines, and Halo 2/3's engine is one of the worst I have ever seen, which really says less about the quality of the games and more the talent and ingenuity of Bungie at the time.

@Read SIEGE No. We all recognize the issues on MCC launch and Infinite, but Infinite and MCC are different teams now and there's been far, far more than just mod tools done for MCC. I mean they're working with modders to revive cut Halo 2 campaign content currently, they've implemented a very substantial amount of content and worked quite closely with the community. This portion of 343 is clearly passionate for Halo and continuing it. Also, honestly, a lot of 343's issues are compounding from and inherited off of Bungie in the last years of their Halo involvement.
