I like how the shells and bombs are visible on the minimap now. @the others, the comment is possibly made on the upload on the video, and has the upload timestamp, rather than the release timestamp for the video, which can be later.

Personally, I don't like the fact that there can only be one blue shell at a time. The thing I liked so much about it before was the chaos of constant blue shells, and while there's still a lot more than in regular mario kart, I don't think it's even nearly as entertaining as before.

Regarding the point system: If I observed it correctly, first place gets 30 points and the others get 1 point less for each full second they finish behind first. Personally, I like the idea of this system, but there should be an additional reward for getting first place (e.g. first place gets 35 points, but then it stays at 30 points minus full seconds for everyone else).

Yeah, I believe it's -1 point per second behind first place, so it's gonna be very quickly finish between 1st and 2nd to even get 30 points

The limit on blue shells kinda defeats the whole purpose of this mode. Not to mention that because of it 1st place can keep chaining dodge items and have a huge breakaway.

Distance-based scoring is a really interesting idea for mkwii, but I find it funny that it is implemented in just about the worst gamemode for it. They removed the incentive to get 1st place in a gamemode entirely centered around the risk associated with being in 1st and giving everyone items to keep the pack close.

Yeah, distance based points would be better in the online time trials or other no-item mod.

A point someone else brought up on the other BSSS video: this scoring method incentivizes throwing blue shells regardless of breakaway because the closer 1st place is to you, the more points you get. That said, first should definitely still get a raw bonus on top of whatever other points they get

i think this version of the mod has its own charm, it's definitely made to feel more like a serious and balanced gamemode. I definitely prefer the crazier version though, makes things alot more entertaining

There's a setting to make it so that the room controller always wins the vote. Probably auto-sets everybody else to random or they just hit random by default because they've all done this so many times they just want to get through it quickly.

There needs to be a blue shell queue, so when someone else launches a blue shell when another one is already in play, theirs doesn't just vanish. Instead, it needs to get in line, and keep firing the ones in queue one first without mercy until the queue is empty.

Hey Troy and Nick! Because you guys mentioned that both Banshee Boardwalk and Choco Mountain are in both Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart DS, they can both potentially be Mario Kart 8 Deluxe after Choco Mountain was released on wave 1 and now Banshee Boardwalk has a chance to appear on one of the upcoming waves in 2023! That would be quite a coincidence!

I have 2 ideas to make the game mode more chaotic, have lots of blue shells but if a blue is targeting 1st, then the next blue will be thrown at 2nd, and if 3 blueshells are thrown in succession then the 3rd blue should target 3rd place. And so on. Another idea is the game mode is to only have blueshells, mushrooms, triple mushrooms, golden mushrooms, and bombs as items.

I actually really like this point distribution. Sure, I'd change it so that you'd get less points regardless of how much time is left, (and actually give 2nd place only 25 points MAX so getting 1st is more crucial) but this overall idea is great. Kinda wish it was like this in the main game, not gonna lie. Alright, time for some Nick comeback episodes, series can't end on an episode that isn't the 13th!

I wish first place gets thirty points and everyone else gets _at most_ twenty-five, but otherwise, the timing-based system is great! I also wish there were slightly more blue shells. The chaos of the original version was amazing and I think this mode would benefit from being slightly more chaotic.

The time-based point system is genius. It encourages: 1. 1st to break away, which means they'll need to use items faster instead of holding 2. players not to stay in 2nd while holding power items, which would lead to slower races (that meta is for true blue shell spam) 3. everyone to go as fast as they can regardless of position so they can maximize their points 4. Last not to wait the full 30 seconds and waste everyone's time because they'll actually be penalized
