OK, I know I'm going *WAY* too in depth with this, but hear me out. Imagine this is Infinite, back with more power than ever. Sonic needs his super form to take him down, the contrast the lyrics give could make a whole new story on it's own. 0:12 It starts with power. Not on for the hero, but for the villain. Sonic is fighting back with all his might. "We won't back down." But Infinite has attained a whole new power that Sonic can't comprehend. Thus, his lyrics start off strong and clear. They aren't pushed back by anything anymore. Infinite has the power and he'll show you what it's all about. Yet, Sonic still fights back with his occasional "We Won't Back Down!" here and there. It's small, weak, insignificant in the face of infinity, yet still there. Even then, Infinite's vocals cut them down in a second, like the sharpest of blades. 0:54 Sonic's vocals get more advanced, no longer repeating some fleeting idea of hope, they're fighting back with everything they've got! No matter what, he'll cut right through steel and he'll bury the pain. The vocals scream this idea of "You're the villain here, so I'll do what I must to stop you!" 1:09 Finally, Sonic's vocals scream and cry with power! Although it's not much, it's fighting back! Infinite's vocals have halted completely, now that Super Sonic is here! Yet, on the line "You'll find your FLAME" Infinite replies "But that's what it takes to be INFINITE!" He's taken away everything and everyone he knew to gain this power and, by god, will he use it. 1:37 Infinite cuts back in! Not yet overpowering Sonic, but pushing him back. As if to play mind games with sonic, he's taunting him. "So look around you, and tell me what you really see; I never end and that's the difference in you and me!" Despite infinite's mind games, Sonic still fights back with everything he has! "We Won't Back Down!" 2:17 As if in a moment of clarity, Sonic sees through the Phantom Ruby and takes the storm head on. This illusion has gone on long enough. "It's like I'm seeing double vision. Take a seat, I'm on a mission. We've got everything to gain." infinite's illusion is wearing off, but he'll fight back with what he has left. 2:32 Infinite's back to what he was doing before, taunting sonic with this power, but his vocals are cut off by Sonic's. Sonic doesn't have the time for being complacent. 3:00 Infinite is loosing himself. The sharpest of blades is being turned into rust, being grind down to dust. Sonic is the one taunting Infinite, as infinite looses his composure. This little bit of calm is him trying to regain his power and sense of clarity. 3:14 At this point, Infinite has lost his vocals. Sonic is the one singing now, and he's got a bone to pick with Infinite. All this power, and for what? Illusions? Fakers? Frauds? Not anymore! Sonic has the flame needed to clear his senses from Infinite's illusions. The vocals are directed at infinite, and what he lost to gain this power. "Now here we go, it's the end of the show. Hear them? They're calling your name." Infinite's lost comrades of the Jackal Squad, they're calling him. He used to have so many people supporting him, so many with him. He gave it up for the power of the phantom ruby. As sonic sings, Infinite rebuts with the vocals mentioned previously. He tries to taunt Sonic, but it's not working anymore. "Cause in the end, it's you and your friends. You'll find your flame."

Easily the best mashup. When I thought of a mashup, this is what I was wanting. Side note, Sage is totally what they intended Infinite to be, and they totally should have just retconned Sonic Forces, and put Infinite in Sonic Frontiers. Edit: Let me just clarify, I mean they have the same red and black color aesthetic, and it would be cool if they used him for a similar story revolving around what we got in sonic frontiers. I think the idea of them coming up with a similar character, or similar character traits in that regard makes sense, and it would’ve been cool to see him return or reused, retconning sonic forces in that way.

For Sage, it was due to seeing Eggman as her father, while Infinite was loyal because... ... But now... imagine if you combined those two.
