I just tested it; it can only be done up to version 1.21.3. Just pay attention to the rope you click on.

@@joycew_ I'm playing currently on 1.21.3 java, in Tlauncher bro. It's not working, water is flowing the ropes away. On clicking the rope, F3 doesn't identify it as string, it identifies as a dirt block(in my case as directly on dirt floor), hence it doesn't even show disarmed section
