Rather complicating things. 31:53 "I wish they wouldn't cross over" - if you use one-way tracks to build a trumpet interchange they will stop doing that. At 32:00, you are forcing all intercity trains, and all the inner-city trains from the left onto the same one rail. It's so frustrating when trains can't even leave the map 😡. But apart from that, one thing that would really help there would be to set up some proper flying junctions where you have, effectively, one-way slip railways with flyovers and underpasses, so that they are not crossing over each other, just like you would for roads.

@29:11 I'm surprised Biffa didn't run the train lines down into trenches to provide grade separation, or shifted the train lines towards the 'centerline' so that the road bridge over them could have a more reasonable slope. It's something I've seen him do at multiplatform end stations in the Teaport and Teaville cities. Maybe even dedicate one of the 4-track train stations for handling trains from the outside of the map and the other for trains from in the city. And maybe try to restrict one set of tracks to each station as being for cargo trains and the other being for passenger trains.

Once a big train backup starts propagating through a network there's often basically no way to unjam it at that point, it's often just easier to enable despawning for a moment to bring the number of trains back down to typical operating numbers before attempting to fix the junctions you've identified as a problem.

30:20 you still have crossing tracks so you haven't fixed the problem - eventually it will clog up again. Never ever allow opposite direction tracks to cross each other, especially when you have plenty of space to avoid it. Crossing tracks are only allowed on closed circuits where you have full control over how many trains will come through, and that is just not a thing on the freight lines, especially when they're hooked into the outside connections

Dedicated turning lanes works so-so on roads with bus-lanes. Can bork up buss routes quite a bit if they've not got any nodes to switch lanes before junction.
