Hey everyone! As you may have noticed, it’s not me in this review. My friend and fellow JRPG fanatic Jack offered up a review and I think he did a fantastic job. He’ll be doing a few more in the coming months so you guys don’t miss ANY of the big JRPGs this year. Thanks for watching! - Taylor

I loved the intro. We never get a chance to be appreciated. Walking through town and having the people cheer me on felt really good.

There is a beat-em up mechanic outside of the stances… You might not have reached the point that you unlock it though… It was in the demo, and there are videos of people talking about the demo where you can see it. It’s a short period where you have beat-em up combat like in the other Yakuza games.

I might be alone on this one but I didn't like that the series moved outside of Japan. I was hoping they would go for place like Seoul or Hong Kong instead of US

Hawaii makes a lot of sense though. It has a huge Japanese community. Not only that but by having it in the US, it will entice US players. I doubt they'll do HK because almost every game so far has involved calling out the government in some way and you don't want to piss off the ccp. Korea would be a good option since jingweon are based out of there. I think ultimately it wasn't really the location that was the issue but the main plot that was weak. Once they found Kasuga's mom everything felt forced.

They joke in Japan that Hawaii is the 48th prefecture of Japan. Lol so in a "spiritual" sense it still is in Japan.

#NotMyGamingShelf!!! Jk, great job, Jack. I'm looking forward to some more reviews! I'm still trekking through Rebirth, but this one is high on the list.

Honestly, i think the pacing being bad is just a matter of perspective. Yea you dont get everything from the start. But unlike most games, getting through the game feels like an engaging story. Yea the jobs aint there at the start. And yea it sets up a plot in the start wich takes time. But that doesnt hinder the way you can enjoy the game. Id rather play a game that starts slow but has an engaging plot, compared to a game that starts fast and just has meaningless fetch or grind content in the middle the mile up the total amount of hrs worth of content.

My favorite video game series 😍 but honestly the story of infinite wealth didn't land for me

It's a great thing that it's a really long game for $70 makes it a good bargain.

Got it, never regret. Btw, it is second Yakuza game after Like a dragon I did play and both are a blast! Finally game which has good sense of humour and strong plot! Turn based combat system is well... humour based and it also makes it great! My only complain is also about how late many characters are re introduced like in final chapters. It sucks but the game would be 9/10 without those characters. The graphics are PS4 level but I dont care I just love Heroes 3 or Diablo 2 so good graphics dont matter that much.

Best!? nah i think the game falls apart storywise after chapter 7, which is usually when Yakuza games story start to get really good. Kiryu should have not been in the game if this is how they were going to use him, and its obvious that the RGG team struggled to make these 2 separate groups feel important to the main plot. The gameplay was good tho. Kind of mad that they sidelined Joogi-Han and Zhao tho, had to wait until beating the game to have them in the same group, smh. Yakuza 7 was better storywise, i hope they just let Kiryu rest and let Kasuga take the lead from now on.

But Yakuza-0 is still alone on the top for sure. 😏

I honestly can't decide which game is better. The pay off for 8 was so satisfying and the music is top tier. The only thing 8 is lacking is Majima. Give that man his own game already.

@@nate6045 Every characters in Yakuza-0 are above the ones from Like a Dragon era, the story in Yakuza-0 is so much more well written from the beginning to the end, the gameplay in Yakuza-0 is better then the ost in Yakuza-0 is still the best and I'm not even talking about karaoke's songs. And of course, Majima took it just by himself.

@@who_is_he I feel like you need to go back and play 0 after playing through both 7 and 8. It doesn't hold up as well as you think it does.
