I've owned 3 VQ platform cars now, I had 2011 G37x sedan, 2011 G37XS coupe, and now a 2015 Q50. I bought mine a few months ago because my G37xs coupe got totaled and I absolutely love it. I got it for 20k with 62k miles, 1 owner, and only ever serviced at the Infiniti dealer, with a lengthy but normal service history. The car was meticulously maintained by the previous owner. Your channel is what always made me regret not waiting to find the right Q50 before buying my G37. I couldn't be happier with the car and now your videos will be extra useful to me.

how would you compare the g37x sedan to the q50 overall with driving experience and the cars itself
@imAidanvoss
@imAidanvoss Жыл бұрын
@@sakyami4543 If we’re talking between the G37 and 3.7 Q50, they’re virtually the same car. The Q50 is just a newer body style with newer technology. The Q50 being newer it has the 2013+ VQ37 so it has the metal gaskets which makes it a little more reliable. The biggest difference for me is the electric steering. The G37 has power steering which for most owners has a leaking problem. both of my G’s had it happen. The G’s steering felt tight and it was always a sports car. The Q50 has a drive mode selector which changes the steering feel and throttle response (newer models also have suspension that adjusts as well). Overall they feel very similar but the Q50 feels more like a sporty luxury car where the G37x felt always like a sports car. I never found anything i hated about any of these cars. The drive experience is different but all very fun. Sorry for the long comment I just wanted to give you all the info I could. Another thing to think about too is that the Q50 may be more worth it now than before because G37s are hard to find not beaten on or high mileage.

going to pick up a 2015 3.7 with awd black with wood grain and black leather , it’s nice it has 117k talked him down to 10k. i had an 09 g37s sedan that would fu*king eat to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds every single time . sold at 138k miles. Don’t think i’ll be too disappointed. After that I built an F:250 to do 60 mph in 4 seconds. Than after that I built an 07 335i to do 60 in 4.3 seconds. Than i built a 14’ taurus to do 60 in low 4 seconds, it’s crazyyy lol.

2015 Q50 Premium just hit 120k miles, purchased around 80k miles. Only 2 issues so far: valve body failure (luckily failed while under warranty) and blend door actuator (driver’s side was blowing hot air). Overall best car I’ve ever owned . Quick, solid, and reliable. For some reason the interior gets a lot of hate but I think it looks and feels very premium.

I have a 2015 Q50s with 205,000 miles on it. Still original engine & transmission. Knock on wood, I've only had a few issues so far (blend door actuator, fuel pump under the rear seat, battery replacement). I do regular oil changes every 5,000 miles. And change all the other fluids every 50,000 miles.
@69sound81

Wow, that is teuly a high milleage vehicle and I really love hearing you say this things can run for that long without major issues besides the natural tear and wear of driving. Just one tip though... I recently got a totaled transmission with my old 07 minivan (chrysler is known for that on that 4 speed) and the shop I am working with for the rebuild told me one thing I didn't know and dealers dont tell you... Automatic transmissions need oil change every 15k miles on average. I used to do it every 50,000 miles on average and sadly payed the price on this one. But maybe get that done and your transmission will live forever. Right now I'm planning to sell the mini Van and get a Q50 both as a project and as a daily. Hope this tip helps you to get a longer life from yours. Now I see most issues known for this plattform derive either from very poor maintenance or simply age and miles that wear parts down naturally.

recently acquired a 2017 3.0t q50 and have been binging this channel, fantastic resource! question for you is, having daily-ed both coilovers and springs, would you still consider springs to be a worthwhile purchase (not planning on tracking/canyon carving)? my main concern is longevity/wear and tear on the stock suspension- car currently sits on stock suspension at about 65k miles, so they've seen a good bit of road. Should I go with the relatively inexpensive spring option (following in your path, Tein S-techs!) and see where that goes, or just save up all the way to a decent coilover kit? Previous car was a Toyota camry and that thing was damn near bulletproof in all aspects, so its a bit of a change of pace going to something that requires a little more attention and care lol
@SpeedCultureStudios
@SpeedCultureStudios Жыл бұрын
I always think springs are a good option if you’re looking to improve handling and stance on a budget. You just have to have reasonable expectations-there is a chance you’ll experience premature wear in your stock shocks. If you’re not worried about that then go for it! I had no complaints with my springs.

I'm starting to research the Q50 as a possible next car, specifically the 2014 & 2015 with the VQ37 and RWD (no need/desire for AWD). When it comes to the trim levels, it seems the Premium isn't commanding as much money as the Sport or Sport Hybrid plus they tend to have somewhat lower mileage....maybe it has to do with the demographic of the Premium buyer. I have yet to drive one, but on paper they look pretty good. A friend used to have a 2010 Lexus is350 which I sampled a few times, nice and respectably quick but backseat is a penalty box for passengers.

The sport has the more aggressive bumper, “fancier” seats, big brakes and paddle shifters which is why they fetch more, generally. These are upgrades that can be made for less than the price difference in you do it right.

150k miles on my 15' q50s. Still going strong. Original every thing but here are the issues its had: - trans will flare the 3 to 4th shift under heavy throttle only in Drive mode. Doesn't happen in manual mode - power steering rack and pinion starting to show wear - electronic steering lock failed. I just disabled it. - AC and heater making some whining noise - rpms dip really fast to idle when letting off throttle. There's alot of open threads about this issue and no one has found a solution yet. This is a big issue - cats showing some Wear - driver's seat butt cushion is completely caved in. Makes it hard to sit for longer than 30mins But orher than that good car. Same reliability as my g37 and g35

@@jdudley6 Nah It def wasn’t worth it the car was clapped for sure and I def would have had to get a new valve cover. My mechanic wasn’t too sold on it either so I didn’t get it.

@Speed Culture Studios my advice, and I also hear u say it all the time. Preventative maintenance is the key. Don't wait until it breaks. I do fluid b4 time did my tranny b4 100k and now I'm do at 30k after that already got me new fluid from Z1. Thanks for all the support.

@@SpeedCultureStudios yeah paid $2,700 for the dealer here in Honolulu to fix. I’m surprised this issue is not a recall. But if more Q50 owners complain about it to consumer affairs maybe something will come of it
@SpeedCultureStudios
@SpeedCultureStudios 10 ай бұрын
@@NINOgarage it’s not a safety issue so I wouldn’t expect a recall especially considering it’s not an issue after 2015. The other thing is that there were something like 75000 Q50 sold in 2014 - 2015. It’s hard to know how many have the valve body issue but I would guess it’s less than 1000 before warranty ends which means it’s not even on the radar.

@@SpeedCultureStudios Thanks. Wanna hear something “crazy?” 12k cash, 80,000 ODO. It IS rebuilt title but it was because of deployed airbag from fender bender, a sensor, and the thermostat which is fixed before purchase. All of which are documented Q50 problems(except the deployed airbag). No frame damage, dents, etc. absolutely bananas deal in this time.

I’m sure you saw the title of the video but maybe not-this is discuss the 3.7. No one is making over 350 naturally aspirated. And no one is “easily” making 450 with the 3.7 and definitely not 600 😂 That would be 12-14k to go forced induction plus a trans upgrade.
