Neat Supplies tricks! And good to know the rules on the 'box' vs. 'box token representation'

Isolating the Proxy and getting that Supply box was an amazing play. Kudos!

It's kinda hard to see from the video, but did you really super-jump the Sukeul 2,5" forward and back horizontally/diagonally to gain LoF around the corner? (At around 12:30) :o
@R0bertShepherd Жыл бұрын
2" around and back, yep (I think I misspoke in the video, I had first move 5" sukeuls on the brain since they had that in two scenarios and I recorded all these vids in one go, but I played her as 4" correctly on the day). I didn't need much movement to make it and could vault the railing as part of the jump, but it was LOF that would have been impossible without the jump.
@ErrorTactics Жыл бұрын
Interesting! So you guys play it so that a super-jump dude can move forth and back horizontally i.e. make a u-turn in mid-air? I guess the rules don't explicitly forbid that, but that sure sounds like something I'd not be comfortable doing myself. 😅
@R0bertShepherd Жыл бұрын
@@ErrorTactics it's explicitly allowed by the super-jump rules, which are very flexible. :) Super jump "allows Troopers to jump vertically, diagonally or horizontally, up to his first MOV Attribute value in inches". In this case I moved diagonally forward and back a couple of inches. It's really no different to jumping 3" up and then back down to get LOF you otherwise wouldn't have, etc, which has been a thing for many years. :)

Like, its not against RAW, but idk, just feels so gamey. Breaking immersion kinda thing. 😅
@ErrorTactics Жыл бұрын
@@R0bertShepherd Well, the rule explicitly allows the user to move horizontally *to clear a gap*, vertically *to reach a higher or lower surface*, diagonally or tracing a parabola. The skill is called jump, not levitation, after all 😄 But I guess you could argue that the rules don't forbid creatively combining directions mid-air, or even reversing them. Anyhoo always a joy to watch your batreps and excellent analysis! Thanks!

Great battle report. That was closer than I expected. Just to clarify: Isn't Penthesilea a biker?
@R0bertShepherd Жыл бұрын
Penthesilia is a biker, yep - did I miss/misspeak something about her?
@boskvonlivingdreams4269 Жыл бұрын
@@R0bertShepherd No, you didn't misspeak. But the model isn't visible in your photo of the battle and I wondered if she was on foot, because you didn't mention she was on a bike. In hindsight wouldn't it have been a better play to pull her and the box further back to a more secure position, if she had the orders and the movement left?
@R0bertShepherd Жыл бұрын
@@boskvonlivingdreams4269 It would have been, yep - but it took every order she had to get back to the position she was in. I very much suspect Deon wanted her way back behind the building next to the Marut, but a flubbed WIP roll to pick up the box meant that was as far as she could go.

Great BR, as always. But man, super jumping around a corner and then back feels super weird..
@ExtraCarnex Жыл бұрын
Why if he has Penthesilea not use her to get smoke out for the Marut if its such a riskly play to face off with the K1?
@R0bertShepherd Жыл бұрын
So I can speculate (and I think I have a good idea why), but since we can't perfectly know my opponent's mind - why do you think he made the play he did? Noting that it paid off big time, with the Sukeul being wounded and dropping in a single face to face roll.
@ExtraCarnex Жыл бұрын
@@R0bertShepherd It feels pretty obvious why he did it to me, he didnt want to spend more orders on it than he needed and it was pretty decent odds to to win the roll off either way, but the thing its its just such a game losing play if you fail it that the risk reward feels highly unblanaced to me. I would even go so far as to say that it might have been the right play to not go prone with the k1 and just hope to win the roll putting him massively on the back foot.
@R0bertShepherd Жыл бұрын
@@ExtraCarnex I think that's a good read, yep. Deon plays intuitively and aggressively, which means he pushes his luck in places other players might not. It paid off for him this time. I think if I hadn't taken a wound from the first face to face, I would have stayed standing with the sukeul. But once I was wounded, the odds of the sukeul dying once it lost a face to face was too high. I really like to preserve my orders as tohaa into the late game, so a fairly constant rule of thumb is that things need to be desperate for me to stay standing with wounded ARO pieces early in the game.
@ExtraCarnex Жыл бұрын
@@R0bertShepherd My grasp on the math isnt that great but unless I am mistaken I think you were actually just favored on the dice in this situation (not by a lot after you lose the armour but still better that his odds) but I for sure dont think gutsing prone is what you would call a mistake. the only big downside i can see to staying up is after that he could move out with smoke and make it much more to his favor which is a situation neither player would end up happe about.
