Another update comes, this time bringing fort shield interference effect, balance tweaks, and a new weapon - Phalanx CIWS turret... variant. This one fires autocannon shells in burst of 6, and four of those those can tear an exposed interceptor in an instant. In other circumstances, maybe not so much. It can hit even a large missile, but can you rely on it to save your ship? Well... let's see for ourselves.
Credit to LightningCutey, FlyingCrowbar, phrozen1, for station defense, and Sir Hornet for offense, especially for that nice takedown in the end :D
The game is Infinity: Battlescape by I-Novae Studios, version 0.9.3.1, server is US-East.

im sitting waiting for the game to finish and then the devs to market it and make it more popular, then ima go play as that will be so fun and cinematic

Damn this looks so good I'm still bummed this is just a planetside type game instead of the galactic mmorpg is was originally billed as. RIP the quest for earth.

The Quest For Earth is not forgotten, it is shelved, it is too early to claim it as dead.

@@random_passerby4672 too early? That was announced back in 08. Who ever originally was making it got as far as the engine and sold it to who is now making this now.

@@Wzrd8 TQFE was a hobby project Flavien was making on no budget in his spare time, he's still the lead dev here they just refocused to make something actually feasible. TQFE really did sound nice in peoples heads as a dream but face it, it was never going to happen, jumping into that project directly would have bankrupted them and resulted in nothing being released. Meanwhile this game is soon going 1.0 and everything in it(save for the mechanics of gameplay rounds) can be reused in a future mmo project. It was a very calculated and smart move and I'm glad they stuck with it no matter how tough of a task it was with such a small budget.

can you aim CWIS yourself? or is it only automatic? looks fun, maybe I can setup a precision shortcut for my trackir to get better aim with headtracking

Like with all turreted weapons, you can aim them manually, as is shown in moments before firing here. I do not recommend full manual aim with them on destroyer and larger, it's a recipe for a miss with any aiming method due to turrets being separated though.

I have the same feeling. There are so many games on the market that a shoot em up team game like this ain't going to hold out for long. I had the same issue with Dreadnought.

​@@csfelfoldi Dreadnought died in beta still when they shifted the game towards "hero ship" progression instead of the hull classes, sub hulls and loadout customization they had for quite a while. They even offered refunds when they did that and a lot of us took it. You ain't gonna world of warship, world of warships so I wasn't even sure why they tried to do it. And lets not even talk about fractured space...

Yeah, there is no certainty for sure. Design choices that can reduce the game's replayability are not as obvious at first, and even later on. There's a question in return though - is the game dead specifically if it lacks players, even if it can be enjoyable?

Can we get a fully cinematic film/movie version of this game like Detroit: Beyond Human, with lots of automated voice over, and dialogue. No carbon based life forms need to be modelled. Gameplay as easy as pressing my nose on a control pad button.

First time I heard of this game, graphics are really good and it looks promising. Thought I have to say those are miles apart from a CIWS, those short bursts with slow firerate isn't what I would expect from a CIWS. In comparission with the real thing kzbin.info/www/bejne/gaS5hnyJiJ2iftU Could you make it like a CIWS and eventually ballance it with accuracy?

In-game CIWS, as they currently are, are a performance and implementation compromise. They are hastily made from repeater turrets, kind of, and their idea is to test turret attack on guided weapons more. It would be cool to have them like in real life, but the server would grind down to a halt if many ships would start to fire those. Same like in Children of a dead Earth, essentially. On the Discord, though, we were asking for another compromise, which would fake the bullet stream with server-side bullets with AoE and client-side, well, bullet stream, but it too has to have some design time spent on, and the dev team is on final approach to the 1.0 version, very focused right now. I'll pay attention to "Held for review" tab more btw. Better not lose comments like yours.

are those real players attacking or is it npc ai that attack ?... hope its the last.. because if this online game have some missions defend against AI ect i might buy it... i am still on the fence if i should get it or not .. .reason i not buy it yet... is i fear its spawn die spawn die every 4sec in start ..to one get a big ship or spend tonz of real money on a big and twinked up ship.. !?

Players are credited in the description, as there was not a lot of us. All other ships are AIs, that take player slots on the server. The only cost is the upfront one of buying the game, no extra real money is necessary to get into any ship in it, as well as to outfit it. It would depend on how fast you will learn 6DoF Newtonian flight and combat, and how exactly good you will be at it. It is possible to never lose a ship, to then refund it after the flight and get a bigger ship. Ship Points spent on spawning is more similar to a timer, as it resets to a preset amount every match start, and receives 30 points every minute. This makes a cruiser available after about 10 minutes from first visit on the server, assuming you keep your previous ship.

Why worry about npcs? The entire game could made like elden ring, or Detroit: beyond human, with npcs and no hud, no humanoids nor carbon lifeforms on screen just shake a stick when the screen tells you to press ■ [R1]. And every single hud change be a voiced over auto announcements.

Определённо да, надо попробовать. Забавно получилось, что одно из предыдущих видео о том, как подлезть под заслонный щит наземной базы, а в этой версии уже такое делать стало вредно. Но зато наконец-то появился смысл поливать его бластерами, как раз надо показать.
