Klowny - what a great write up. I did the rears as you described though I couldn't get the slide pin out on one side. Thought, no big deal, can still replace pads but when I was done the pads rubbed because the slider was frozen. Watched this video again and realized that the slider MUST slide (go figure) and that lube was the key. I took it all apart again, banged out the caliper from the bracket, sanded, lubed, slid back in like butta and worked perfectly. Thanks again.

This saved me sooo much frustration! I thought that I needed to remove both bolts and found out that the bottom one was stripped. I will have to deal with that 😂. P.S. I know I am 10 years late 😂

Man, I just tried changing out my rear rotors and pads yesterday, but couldn't figure out how to get to those bottom bolts! Seriously frustrating. A cowoker found your video, and I actually never would've thought of using the 3/4 wrench trick, so this is gonna do it for me! Thanks for this video!!

Does it matter which caliper bolt/slider goes where? one has the plastic on it...

Use breaker bar instead of two wrenches to prevent accidents. Wondering why did you have to open bleeder? Is it required for this make/model? doesn’t the fluid just go back into to reservoir when you push the calliper piston in? (That’s how what I have done on Honda/VW

Not enough clearance for a breaker bar. But I agree with no need to loosen bleeder screw.

Great videos. Have anything to show how to get the 3 rear spark plugs out of a 2006 3.5 impala ? Keep up the good work.

Great tutorial. Really appreciate it. Have an '06 FX35 I bought used. Is it imperative to bleed the brake lines after doing the procedure? I saw the tail end of your vid after I closed it all up. I bled them while pushing the caliper back in but not at the end.
@klowny196910 жыл бұрын
You dont have to bleed the lines..just good common practice. .I usually siphon the fluid from the master with a turkey baster, and fill with fresh fluid also... Thanks for watching
@spike35058 жыл бұрын
No, you don't have to bleed anything as you're not actually opening the system to air so you're not going to get any air bubbles or the like in the system. when I'm pushing back the pistons i just loosen off the top of the master cylinder which makes it a little easier as the brake fluid can rise in the MC.

Aren't you cross contaminating the dust? You just cleaned the rotors and now you are sanding the slider pin which leaves rust residues and dust into the caliper. Since you have not completely replaced the brake components, why not remove the rotors again and clean it before putting it on? That way you are able to completely remove the manufacturer's finish oil off the front and back of the rotors.

nope

For this specific application.......What i would typically do......is clean off all the manufacturers oil first.......do the install.......Then you see how the caliper is mounted towards the front of the vehicle......once pads and rotors are on.....i would spray brake clean ontop/inbetween brake pads/rotor while spinning in a counter clockwise direction......( do you notice how the guy doing the install constantly touches the rotor etc.....What i just said cleans all of that garbage out. ) Also...Ideally you don't " wipe " brake cleaned parts because it is designed to eat grease and evaporate.....essentially creating a " residue free surface "...using a cloth to wipe brake clean is just asking for rag particles to stick........i dont know what original poster is talking about, and frankly he gave you a dick of a reply. This guy is a clown. use Impact tools or a longer wrench instead of the twin wrench method.

Do you know the torque setting for those 19mm Caliper carrier bolts? I put them on at 75lbs just because I was not sure. That felt pretty damn tight and I didn't want to push my luck.
