Asai Karate: Kumite: 2024 Mumbai seminar
浅井空手: 組手・(腕を∞の形に作動する・その七)-両腕を使う、背手中段抑え受け&同時に背刀又は手刀打ち: インド・ボンベイ講習会
The kumite idea I shared yesterday was to block Jodan oizuki 上段追い突き. In it, the right arm went up diagonally to your right side, which turned out to be Jodan block.
To block Chudan oizuki, you need to move the right arm downward instead. To do this arm movement, the direction of your arms is opposite of yesterday movement. Try those two directions and you will see.
As the right arm comes down, it becomes the block that is similar to the popular Chudan shuto uke 中段手刀受け. However, the block here is more down ward block using back hand instead of knife hand. This block more of pressing down block on purpose.
Simultaneously, you will execute Jodan haito uchi 上段背刀打ち to the neck or temple with the other arm (left if the blocking arm is right).
The block arm will continue the semi circle motion, this time upward then downward. This motion becomes the second counter attack, either Shuto or Haito uchi to the neck or temple of the other side of the head.
As an alternative, you could use your left arm for the second counter. After the first counter, the arm will continue its infinity motion and make a full circle back and down. Its final downward motion can be the second counter.
However, using the right arm is easier to operate as it is the forward arm. You should try both ways and see if you can do them smoothly.
After mastering the right side forward, you must practice the left side forward. This means you block the opponent's right arm with your left arm.
