This year I was lucky to buy a used HARDER & STEENBECK EVOLUTION SILVERLINE FPC TWO IN ONE. The kit was very interesting and consisted of three nozzles. 0,15, 0,2, 0,6mm together with air caps for them. There were also two needles. The price for everything was so exciting that I decided to risk and buy this airbrush. Preliminary checking the availability of various kinds of spare parts at the local dealer. I met the seller and saw the airbrush, it was not in the best condition, it was all smeared with paint and stuck with it. Bargained a bit and took away for 70 dollars. Arriving home began with all possible care to clean the new acquisition. I soaked everything in a thinner and let it rest for several hours. These two hours were just unbearable.Finally I examined all the Air nozzles, I found that two of the three were cracked, and both needles were bent and scratched when viewed under a microscope. The mood was ruined. I was wondering how much new needles and nozzles would cost me. After not much deliberation, I decided to restore the needles on my own. I deal with metal processing and have all the necessary knowledge and materials for this. On each needle I spent 2 hours of working time, but the result was excellent!!! With Air nozzles, unfortunately this option will not work. I will have to buy them. But I decided that I did not need a nozzle with a diameter of 0.6 mm. Purchase Nozzle 0.4 and calmed down. Such a kit for my task is ideally suited. I will tell you a little how the old nozzles of the past owner died. He pressed the needle too hard, and also left paint residues in the nozzle; when dry, the paint expanded and deformed the nozzle with the appearance of cracked. So be careful, do not press the needle too hard. And also clean the nozzle thoroughly. It is also worth learning what kind of markings the nozzles have. Оne thin belt = 0.15 mm, without belts = 0.2 mm, one thick belt = 0.4 mm, two thick belts = 0.6 mm. Unfortunately, I could not find the information on the needles as to distinguish one from the other, but there is a small dot of different diameter on the back of the needle, I suspect that it gives information about the diameter of the needle.

I feel like the infinity solo would be good for doing things like eyes and maybe details around rivets ect those crazy tiny details. But it does do standard work perfectly fine so I see no issue with it for everything.

I already own the Infinity which I run at .4 but am considering an Evolution AL Plus to run at .2, because it is lighter it seems more suited to detail work. Do you think the Evolution will feel like a let down since I’m already used to the excellent Infinity?

Thank you so much for this video, I've been going back, and forth between the two and trying to figure out which one I should buy. I'm new to the world of airbrushing, and I'll mainly be using the gun for weathering, and camouflaging RC aircraft, but I'd also like to learn to do stenciled pictures also, so I'd say you made up my mind, I'll be buying the Evolution 2 in 1. Thanks again for the video, and Happy New Year. Mike H.

Interesting fact I learned awhile ago they make airbrushes out of bras then coat it in copper then plate that with nickel then finally use chrome on that. So it's completely cosmetic unless your allergic to nickel.

Would you prefer a 0.2mm needle in the Infinity over the 0.15mm one if you had a choice?? I'm considering saving up for the Infinity and am actually kind of interested in detail work for fine art, but am hesitating because of the smallest needle and higher risk of clogging the brush. Any suggestions?
@KostasMiniatures
@KostasMiniatures 8 жыл бұрын
Yes you are true. Smaller needles do clogs easier. 0.15mm is excellent needle if you are really really really professional or you are an amateur who sprays inks or paints diluted as ink. If I have to choose I'd definitely got the 0.2mm. I use it all the time and I find myself less and less needing a finer needle.

+Kostasiii Miniatures You can also get 0.10 to the Iwata microns. I dont know for sure where all the guys at the airbrush buys the kits from but Zsolt Kovacs also deliver them ready made. I also know you can buy them from foxystudio.com in Holland. The one based on Iwata Micron has the code K33.

@KostasMiniatures
@KostasMiniatures 4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recommend applying lacquer with the airbrush that you are going to paint. It's really painful to clean it, especially with heavy lacquers. If you are an amateur painter any cheap airbrush with 0.4 nozzle should be ok. On the other hand, if you want professional usage you must go on H&S Evolution CRplus or Infinity CRclus with extra alloy coatings and high-quality Orings

Hello and nice video with good details on these two H&S airbrushes. I was just wondering why you only reduced the paint for this review / test at only 1 to 1 mix ? I don't know if you were just comparing the two different needle setups between the airbrushes or were actually trying to show how fine of a line both could make. But I have a older Tamiya Spray-Work HG2 Superfine ( out of production now ) with a 0.20mm needle and nozzle setup and can spray hair lines with it at 10 to 12 psi air pressure. The lines you did seemed very large for the 0.15mm tip Infinity, maybe if you had reduced, say to 3 parts reducer to 1 part paint you could have really shown what the 0.15mm Infinity could have done as far as super fine lines. But maybe the paint you were using would break when reduced that much, each paint is different in that area. Still a nice clear video, thanks

Yes you are right. Now that I checked again my video I saw what you are talking about. I did a very rough pass of the spray lines and now I saw that all that footage is out of focus. My bad

HI! 1) Whay do you think about kickstarter Cult of Paint - is it the same airbrushes, but just rebranded? 2) Did you ever change needle for this air brushes? Is it make sence to order for future another needles? 3) How do you clean them? 4) what colors do you use? How do you solve this colors? Sorry for my bad English, but it is really intresting.
@KostasMiniatures
@KostasMiniatures 5 жыл бұрын
Hello and welcome 1) I haven't been informed thoroughly but I can't see much of a difference between the classic Infinity and Evolution except from the esthetic 2) Ye I have changes only once the 0.15 needle and the 0.15 nozzle. From my side don't buy until you need them unless you are a professional painter and you don't want to stop you paintjob for any reason 3) I usually use windex or Ajax to quick clean it and Vallejo airbrush cleaner for thorough cleaning 4) I use at 90% of my painjobs Vallejo colors especially air series. For thinning paints I usually use Vallejo thinner or a mix 50%water-40%drying retarder-10%airbrush medium

@@KostasMiniatures Thank you for so fast answer! So, you think that 0,15 needle is too small? I thought to use them for paintind Warhammer 40k miniatures for very small parts, fabrik fold etc...
@KostasMiniatures
@KostasMiniatures 5 жыл бұрын
Yes 0.15 is very small but not for you but for the pigments. You will find that the airbrush will clog many many times and with not obvious reason. The 0.15 is for very fine painters which paints are mostly inks. The difference with the 0.20 needle is not so much but it is more manageable

+Anthony Adamczyk Well if I were you I'd try it more. Make sure that the problem come from the low range level of the airbrush and not from other reasons. What kind of problems do you have. Can I help you?
@checky6825
@checky6825 8 жыл бұрын
Well, I'm either getting clogs, spiders, or bubbles from the gravity fed. I've thinned the paint (Vallejo model air with Vallejo thinner), I've also tried thinking with water, windshield washer fluid and alcohol. I'm running my compressor between 15-20 psi and having issues with drying and clogs. When I go over 20, like 30+ psi, I am getting spiders.
@KostasMiniatures
@KostasMiniatures 8 жыл бұрын
+Anthony Adamczyk When you have spiders means that your paint is too thin. Clogs means that the paint is thick or dries too fast and the tip of the nozzle clogs paint. Bubbles means that your nozzle os your needle has thick paint that clogs the airbrush and pushes the air back. Now use some tips. First lube your airbrush before and after use. You can use a thin oil or superlube for airbrushes. This will help the needle stays clean. For spider problems lower the pressure. Thin you paints with water and a bit of drying retarder. That will slow down the clogs. A better mix is 50% water - 40% drying retarder and 10% airflow or airbrush medium. And of course best of all .... practice practice practice
