But later I've got in to the older albums and man are those good. So even if this isn't really melodeath, it serves as a gateway to metal/melodeath for some of us that might not be/have been ready for The Jester Race or Lunar Strain as a first introduction :p

This is the song that got me into In Flames. I was hanging out with my friend and former bandmate who is a producer ten or so years ago and we were going over my ideal drum sound. I'm trying to describe how I love that massive punching click that you get from live kick drums so he starts showing me different examples and pulls up this song. I think that to this day, my all time favourite drum sound is on this album. I've since started slowly going down the rabbit hole of Daniel Bergstrand and Fredrik Nordstrom production discographies just because those guys create what is in my opinion, the most beautiful sounding recorded drum tones.
