Excellent Video Rod. We are still enjoying our True Kit Navigator 300 these past 3 years. Your video is helpful as I needed to tighten a valve.

What about when you actually have to replace the basket part too? I own a rib boat that was made back in 1997 and the type of the valves is not available anymore. Should this modern type valves fit in the old inner basket parts of my boat?
@TRUEKITINFLATABLES Жыл бұрын
There is no guarantee that the top valve part will match the basket of your old valve. Even modern valves are not all interchangeable. If you need to replace the inside basket you will need to cut open the hole to remove and replace the valve, then glue down a ring of fabric to seal it up again. I will do a video on it one day

Great demo, one question, I currently have Leafield C7 valves and would like to change to push twist-lock types, are the baskets (inside the tube) compatible

what if back part/basket is broken or needs to exchanged? Do you need cut open the tube and reseal it.? is there way to get the basket through the hole?
@TRUEKITINFLATABLES8 ай бұрын
If you have broken the basket inside then you will need to cut the fabric to get it out, replace it, and then seal it back up. That is a whole article in itself that we might do another time. Some valves have much more robust baskets than others so when looking for an inflatable boat consider the valves to minimise the chances of this damage

I have a small rib and noticed what sounds like water inside the pontoon when moving the boat on the trailer. Yet the pontoons hold air. Any tips for water removal from the pontoons?

Any tips for freeing up a seized or very tight valve? I can't get mine to budge.
@TRUEKITINFLATABLES Жыл бұрын
Insert your valve spanner. Get an extension on it like a tube so you can get some serious leverage. Push hard down on the centre of the valve spanner so it can't pop out. And turn the tool to loosen. That's your best bet
@MoggAndrewАй бұрын
OK, well the main question that was not even addressed at all is... how do you replace the entire valve (including the new "basket")? It's all very well showing a cut open piece of the boat but that's not what people have. Are these valves originally put into the boats before the boat is glued together? If so do you have to cut the boat open to change the whole thing? What you seem to be assuming is that you need to leave the old basket in the boat and just replace the new valve and cap parts, in which case what;'s the point in buying the whole thing? I need to change two of mine and I'm just hoping the old baskets are still ok.

Can you tell me some kind of hack on how to use some household item items you could make a temporary valve if yours is lost or fell off
@TRUEKITINFLATABLES Жыл бұрын
No household items. Carry a spare valve if you need a replacement

What happens if the internal "basket" is the part that is broken? Is there a way to get a new one in to the boat? Will the fabric stretch enough to slide the old basket out and the new basket in?
@roddawson3855 Жыл бұрын
You won't be able to fit the basket through the hole without opening the hole up. You will need to make some cross cuts in the fabric, insert the basket and then bond a ring of fabric around the hole so seal it up properly
@AlexOvechkinSucks Жыл бұрын
That’s a good question. You need to cut out the old one, and then add a new one, followed by a “donut” patch. Basically a large round patch with a hole in the centre.

I have a leak at the valve joints and the valve is stuck and will not turn in the cup. I applied so much pressure holding the cup through the other side and no success. Any recommendations to loosen this? Thanks.
@thenewfire Жыл бұрын
Get a metal valve tool instead of the cheap plastic ones. Get a longer handle and never use anything to grab the cup that will hurt the raft

On an old nz made lancer boat is it possible the basket is a fixed steel thread?
@206Seaman Жыл бұрын
Do these work with Bris inflatable boats?
@retarivs Жыл бұрын
It can be an absolute nightmare when the inner part of the valve falls into the tube. So i recomend to put a clamp over the inner part before you unscrew the outer part
@renegademind1833 Жыл бұрын
Nice informative video, Thank you.. question, can the inside 'basket' be pulled out through the hole, to replace the entire unit? Or does nothing really bad happen to them aside from stripping the threads.
@TRUEKITINFLATABLES Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recommend replacing the inside basket unless it is broken (sometimes they can get stood on). To remove it you have to open up the hole with cuts, replace the basket and then glue a ring of fabric around the hole to seal it up again where the cuts have been made

@@TRUEKITINFLATABLES Being new to this Inflatable boat idea, I assumed things that I shouldn't have. I thought the replacement valve assembly would screw nicely into the existing 'basket. Not only the threads did not match precisely, the threads were too long on the new one, as well, not being to tighten it enough, into the old basket. So, what to do.. well, I removed the seal ()-ring) from the old and used the new seal from the new one, Secondly, I removed the plunger and put the new plunger in the old housing, having to drill the a larger hole for the stem to fit. It's all done, no leaks.. Azn can have all their parts back, for providing a 'poor product description.. should state = (DO NOT USE WITH OTHER EXISTING AIR VALVES, HOUSINGS/BASKETS)' Why they not sell a 'o-ring/seal kit'? Thanks for your help.. you were right, getting the old basket out, cutting/glueing, be a nightmare. Thank You.

Do you know if anyone makes a metal valve removal tool? I'm having trouble with the plastic ones breaking when I need to remove a valve that has been in place for a long time. Or do you know of a higher end plastic tool available?

You will need to contact Zodiac to find out what valves they use. Be aware not everything is compatible

I've inherited a lovely boat but it has glue around the valve and I assume someone repaired it incorrectly- how can I safely remove the old glue?
@roddawson3855 Жыл бұрын
You will probably have to use a solvent like MEK so soften the glue and then carefully scrape it off with a metal scraper making sure to not damage the fabric

Disagree. Best valve I think is the Leafield. The "dust cap" will seal in air if air is getting past the valve core. Doc
