To be honest, it’s a really good way to gain money. Business class is for business travellers, and they would probably need to work during the flight. However, it is a bit annoying they do have to pay sometimes.

It's better to charge passengers for wifi, as only people use it, who really need it. That means more speed for those, who use it.

@@lausimeyer6558 Agreed. Satellite network is not very cheap and airlines pay for every mb traffic for the service. So if everyone would be allowed, they would go bankrupt, that's why if you need it, you pay for it additional charge, no matter what 'class' ticket you have.

Including traveling to and from the airport as well as a layover, flying from Germany to New Zealand takes about 50 hours. 50 hours in which you will not be getting any sleep if you're traveling in economy, and if you're particularly unlucky, you'll have a crying baby 2 rows away on the 16 hour leg from Dubai to Auckland. And no, the baby didn't sleep, and no, it didn't stop crying for 16 hours straight, and no, the parents couldn't be bothered at all

I do economy red eye flights all the time as a 180cm tall 100kg bloke and I have no trouble sleeping. Simply, starve yourself of sleep and then go to sleep immediately after the meal service. Normally get 6 hours of sleep on a 12 hour flight.

I did the 15 hour Chicago to Tokyo when I was 12 by myself back in 95. My Aunt taught military students in Japan and taught english to the Japanese students. So I had the opportunity to go out their several times. Counting the flight from Tampa to Chicago total time in the air was 17.5 hours. I took the 727-200 to Chicago and 747-400 to Tokyo Narita. United was probably the best. I used ANA and JAL on my 2nd and 3rd trips. They used the 777-200 and an MD 11 with stops in San Francisco on the way back.

That should have been the very cheap business fare from AMS (AMS-FRA-EZE-ZRH-AMS) I think. Price was about 1200$ return.

Hi Noel, thanks for the report. I flew the mighty 747-8 with Lufthansa a couple of months ago Newark to Frankfurt as part of a Star Alliance around the world business class trip. The reason we went to Frankfurt this trip ( I've been before) was to experience the amazing 747 upper deck once again, this time on the -8 and it may have been our last chance. In my opinion, there is nothing like the upstairs in a 747 and we weren't disappointed. Our seats I think we're in exactly the same part of the cabin as yours although we had no issues with the comfort. Maybe at 6'1 I'm a little shorter than you and that was the difference.

I flew that airlines from Denver to Frankfurt. Business Class I have no complaints. The seats were great, they recline slept for 5 hours. They also have great care packages too.

Hey Noel! I flew the LH 747-8 last July, from Washington Dulles to Frankfurt. I agree - those seats are so weird - you feel like you're sitting really high up for some reason and the angle of the TV is odd too. But LH service was really decent. Plus you're on a 747-8 and they're really getting quite rare now. Nice video mate, cheers!

When I fly Lufthansa business out of LAX, I always make sure it is a 7478i so that I don’t have to shove my feet into a box. Lufthansa has some of the best amenities , their new samsonite kit is loaded! Btw if you had time you should’ve checked out their lounge with an a la carte restaurant (I think near B gates?)

I flew business class, FRA-BKP on a Lufthansa 747-400, I was main deck near the front and with the narrowing of the fuselage I had a center seat with an aisle on either side, very convenient indeed. But what was a little bit of a surprise was I was right on top of the nose gear and when it retracted after takeoff it locked in place with such a bang I thought my fillings were going to eject. Other than that, superb service on this 10 hour flight.

I visited BA a few years ago during winter. I travelled to santiago, chile with AF on their longest flight. And then took an air canada flight over the andes towards BA. It has a very nice european vibe to the city.

Their 747-8 is nice. I remember I went on it 4 1/2 years ago to go to India. I did Boston to Frankfurt, then Frankfurt to Mumbai. They were both 747s and the service and seats were very great.

Fun video! I’ve flown Lufthansa a few times, 747-400 w a transfer in FRA to A-340. Lufthansa is always professional. But FRA is the worst experience for transfer (Term A to C). Long long walks, I mistakenly left the secure area, there were no toilets I could find in A. Munich is much better.

I like Lufthansa...they kindly upgraded my son and I from premium economy to business class from FRA to DFW a few years ago when I took my son to Dallas on a surprise trip for Wrestlemania 32...i wrote down on some paper not to mention Dallas as I my son thought we were going to Bangkok to visit my old work colleague and it was all a big surprise....the LH check in staff member at DUB loved it and told my son to sit over the seats be ause he has a few boring security questions to ask me...when my son went over to the seats the Irish LH member of staff... said he too loved the WWE and thought I was a brilliant dad.... When it came to boarding the flight to FRA he scanned our boarding passes and said to my son..."Enjoy Bangkok master Ethan then said to me..."Good luck and hope you have a great flight to Dallas" silently... When it came to the Dallas flight the following day our premium economy tickets were ripped up and we were issued with business class tickets.... Id like to think the Irish LH staff member had something to do with our upgrade... I do know though if a flight is full you have a great chance on being upgraded from premium economy to business class than economy to business class if you're not a high tier member with a airline. Whatever it was... Lufthansa made my surprise trip so much more better.

Just came back from Buenos Aires with Norwegian (Premium Class) from/to LWG. Not the same as BIZ on other carrieres. You get what you pay for. Saw the 747-8 at EZE... maybe somtime I have the money/points for that trip^^ Nice review. You should try the Jaba Suction cup for the GoPro... It works for my films on planes and stick easy to the window :D

I flew with Lufthansa once from Frankfurt to San Francisco on a 747-8. I normally fly from Edinburgh-Heathrow-San Francisco with British Airways but went via Frankfurt for a change. I was very impressed with the whole experience and I might fly with them again sometime.

Frankfurt is just huge. I had to regularly walk the entire length of Terminal 1, for a connecting flight I did. It was a fast paced 45 minute "walk", definitely didn't need the gym that day.

I had the opportunity to see the upper deck on one of Lufthansa's 747-400's when they let me look into the cockpit before departure! Fun fact, the upper deck on a 747-8i is about the same size as a 737! We, of course, were flying back down in Economy just behind the wing.

Upstairs on a 747... welcome to the club, although when I did this I didn't do it in quite as much style as i flew regular economy on virgin atlantic. still got to live a childhood dream to sit up there though, but I think business class on a flight this long is wise and I am considering saving for similar when I next do a flight this long.
