This all assumes the change is for the better... Most change is for the worse historically. Best to be sure your change doesnt put you out of a job...

Funny...I told my uncle the same thing a long time ago. He said to me: you are so naive. What would really happen is that someone from your team would betray you, go to the boss, get promoted for ratting you out for trying to change the culture and then you (not your team) would get fired as a message to everyone else. And the status quo would continue....

This is dramatic. He’s not suggesting grandstanding and making sweeping statements of ‘I’m changing this culture, starting here’. I think role modelling good behaviours, listening to, developing, and supporting your people to get a happy and humming team, is unlikely to get you terminated.

@sff9919 I hope so, I truly do. The conversation I had took place in 1996 in Italy. Hopefully things have changed.

There are plenty of ways to hit a target without being naive... . That's why some people achieve things that most never will. It takes efforts, it takes skills.

A unfortunate reality is that career capital matters in truth telling. When a writer or a recognized person says a truth can be called genius and when someone we can call a common person tells the same truth it almost surely will be called naive. That shouldn’t stop us. Truth is a powerfull thing that sometimes if we’re lucky we can have immediate changes but most of the time truth is just a seed we plant and we need the patience to see and enjoy its fruits. Be brave , believe for better even when is hard, start changes with a gardener mindset and have a good cause of action. Then, share the miracles that happened.

No one gets fired for trying to change culture for the better and no one gets promoted for ratting someone out for this - unless the org is rotten to the core. If you're in a company where you believe this to be true - leave.

Out complete the poorly lead teams. Call it capitalism or evolution the way the best leam is led will eventually be the only way any team is led. Unless there's an equally well led team in which case you will have different species of leadership philosophy existing.
