As someone who has recovered from Anorexia Nervosa, this is so hard to watch and heartbreaking. I know my mindset at the time was I didn't want anyone to know how little I was eating so that I could continue to do so, and I only got help after fainting and hitting my head and I needed to get checked for a concussion. I was lucky enough to have people who made me go to the doctors that day and were incredibly worried, that gave me motivation to recover. It did feel like an addiction to the numbers - calories, weight, measurements and getting as low as possible. It would feel uplifting when clothing felt a little big or loose for that reason, I would often look and touch my collarbone and hip bones to get the same feeling. I can definitely see her doing that by constantly looking at herself and how her clothing fits. You get stuck in a mindset that you still have fat and that is the worst thing in the world in your mind, death doesn't matter, being sick doesn't matter. You don't think of anything else, just whatever will help get more weight off - I feel she is in that bubble too as she keeps denying and ignoring the health issue comments. She is in huge denial about death, for me when my dietician said I looked like a cancer patient when I first came in it was a huge wake up call. I wish so badly that I could help her, but ultimately it is up to the person. I don't like that she is promoting this to a young audience, but she also doesn't seem to understand she is doing this. I am also autistic and autism has a large correlation with eating disorders, sometimes we can be naive and I can recognise this myself, that could be a possibility and why she may have high anxiety with typical situations. I was also scared of using the oven for a long time but that's because I was inexperienced and you are more sensitive to injuries at that weight. I'm not sure though, she could be pretending not to be aware of these things, but she also doesn't seem to have had good role models in her life to help her know what she is doing is not right and potentially has mental illness passed down from her mum. The whole situation is really sad and this is the first time I've been able to watch a full video about her. I really wish she would at least try to advocate against Anorexia Nervosa to her audience or acknowledge it, but I understand it's so hard to get your mind out of that place when she's been there so long. Ah just so painful.

The amount of caffeine in Midol is negligible. Its a money grab on their part, youre better off taking advil for your cramps with a can of coke and saving a few dollars. She'd having to be taking a bottleful every couple days to be "abusing" it. Unless shes very sensitive to it, but her entire life is on camera and ive never noticed those side effects. I have a brother with a serious mental illness who does not recognize he is ill. You cannot force someone to get help who does not want it. This puts family in a very difficult position. My brother emotionally punishes us if we acknowledge his illness to him or in front of him. We have been accused of enabling him because we go along so we do not get cut out of his life. I can't imagine the helplessness this mother may be feeling watching her daughter fade away in front of her. I don't know these people so I would never fault the family in what they are doing. Mental illnesses are horrible for everyone involved. I love my brother and it hurts to watch him suffer because he refuses help. It hurts worse when outsiders judge me and tell me I am not doing the right thing. But they have never walked in my shoes.

I have found working with family members, especially parents, that they can be in denial about the illness. They want their child to be well so bad that they ignore what is right in front of them. It is heartbreaking. This situation is different in that it is being played out in front of the whole world yet we don't know the reality of it.
@power-of-overdrive2 ай бұрын
Parents raised her in a very dangerous way. They 100% abused her, and it is weird that people seem to be okay with cases where children survived abuse in childhood and grow up into adults that are still being abused by their families. It is not normal that her family does not leave her alone; that they encourage her to objectify herself; and that they keep her sheltered in a very odd way. As somebody who has been abused by her mom, I can say without doubt that Eugenia's family are vile people. This is textbook abuse. What happened to your brother has nothing to do with this case, and it feels like you are trying to exonerate every case of families being abusive because "well what if the 'victim' of abuse isn't really a victim but is the real abuser????" That is terrible. Many victims of abuse already question themselves because they know they are not perfect. No victim is perfect, and often victims lash out, or they give in without a fight. It is especially hard if they had been raised since birth by their abuser, like I was, or like Eugenia was. Still, Eugenia is both a victim and a bad influence. She has okayed hurting herself and promoting terrible things on the Internet because it is easier to do that than to disappoint mommy and daddy. Me, the only way I could leave is by going no-contact and covering all bases. I knew that if I left, my mom would try to stalk me down and hurt me. So even tho I knew that leaving would be very difficult in many ways, I still left and did not look back. Eugenia is able to do the same but doesn't, because family means money and automatically done chores. Her family is not poor. If she left, she'd suddenly have to adult and that is probably very scary to her. That is why abusive parents sometimes shelter their victims so much that they are incapable of "adulting".

A big thing back then was for people to comment or tag #proAna (pro Anorexia) so it was easier to find content idolizing extremely skinny people. I used to watch her videos anytime I was eating so I wouldn’t ‘forget my goal of being skinny’ because I thought that a body like Eugenia’s was healthy and my eating disorder was extremely bad I was hospitalized and sent to a rehab facility for eating disorders and I found out a lot of the girls there were watching the same kind of content and Eugenia was a favorite among most of us. My suspicion is this family has multigenerational issues with trauma, anxiety, control, and food, which Deb and Chip are obviously also suffering from. That's why I think it's a mistake to assume Deb and Eugenia's dad don't care. If you have an ADULT daughter, hell-bent on self-destruction, but she isn't actively SI/HI, then there's nothing you can do about it, legally. They can't force her to get better, and with this particular ED, the child will often use her illness as leverage, to keep her parents "in line" and basically control the whole family. Weak parents will often spend YEARS giving in and enabling this behavior. Unless you've actually been in this situation, it's very difficult to understand, and easy to unfairly demonize the parents. Also, just because you don't see Deb objecting to Eugenia's weight _on camera,_ that doesn't mean she's not doing it behind the scenes. Why would she confront Eugenia in front of an audience of strangers? In fact, Eugenia admitted her whole family was bugging her about her weight, and she kept blowing them off until Deb came to her CRYING, asking her to see a doctor. *Eugenia said that's why she went to the 28-day treatment.* Because of DEB, not because of her friend doing a 5150. Deb is the ONLY reason Eugenia has EVER gotten treatment, but it'll never work unless Eugenia WANTS healing.
