The glass was treated beforehand on specific regions to make the shapes, it's a process similar to tempered glass. You can crush it with anything in any way and it will break like that because only the parts that form the face are breakable, no matter how much you break it the shape won't change, the little dents will only keep getting smaller.

@@melanp4698 It was impressive in the past, now they do it with a laser printer. They literally just upload a monochrome picture to a computer and press one button. You can teach a child to do it in 2 minutes.
