Did you use the rubber plug for a fill point?

Do not use the rubber plug as a fill point or as the fluid level point. That is near the top of the transmission which is way too much fluid. The specs call for 2.8 liters or 2.9 qts. The drain plug and fill plug on the transfer case are the ones you should use. The transmission and transfer case are one piece and connected together on this vehicle, so filling at the transfer case also provides fluid to the transmission. The fill plug on the transfer case is the fill level. Pump fluid into the fill hole until it drips out. That's it. I used Red Line 90w GL4. Also make sure to use teflon tape on both plugs or they will leak.
