I love my clover mini iron! I always put mine in a coffee mug to keep it safe from falling over and burning something.

I have both and cannot imagine quilting without them! Each has it's special use. The Clover (I have the older one) is perfect for ironing open seams, which I do with almost all my half-square, etc, blocks.

Thank you for this video! I've had this clover iron for at least 4 years and have never used it. I'm getting in to fusible applique. I guess I should pull it out.

I love the Oliso 1800 wt. I broke my wrists several years ago, and with the legs on the Oliso, I don’t have to twist my wrists when I set the iron down. I also bought a rowenta with the 400 vents for doing larger pieces of fabric.

I love my Panasonic cordless iron. I also use a rowenta steamer. For travel I use the small Rowenta. I love all 3 of them and highly recommend all 3.

I love tutorials of quilting products. I have not used either of these irons. The small iron I take with me to classes is the Steamfast. I am so impressed with the amount of heat such a tiny iron has. Almost all my fellow quilters have also purchased the Steamfast. We recommend it to everyone. Thanks, Kim. My home iron is my Oliso Pro. Love it!

Love your videos. I also have the clover mini iron and feel the same way as you. I thought I would use it more than I do but don’t often take it out. The times I used this iron it worked very well. I agree the stand is flimsy and takes some time to get the iron to sit balanced. I’m always afraid it will be bumped and slide off. It does get very hot. I love the travel iron you demonstrated. I’m in the market for a new iron for my sewing room. I’ve been using an inexpensive black and decker basic model that actually gets the job done however I like the smaller features of the travel iron you showed. Thanks again for another great video.

I use a Steamfast travel iron next to my machine and I love it! It gets nice and hot, works well with a wool press pad. I also have a vintage iron to go with my Featherweight but haven’t used it yet

Hi Kim, so happy to have found you. I have a Tephal iron. It works very nicely, and I can't remember where I bought it, London Drugs or Value Village. So far I don't need a small iron and having just bought the M7 Janome, I better not keep spending. I was so pleased to see your write ups on the Featherweight. I have one and a machine in a table that appears to be similar. It has the same bobbin. I feel the same about glue guns. Got rid of mine. Nice to see you are from Canada.

I have a large Rowenta and the small one as well. I use my large Rowenta for regular ironing of clothes and large items on my regular ironing board. My little Rowenta WOW I use all the time for my quilting projects. I set up my sewing area in the "U" shape in the following way: sewing machine and cabinet to the left of the "U", serger in the center of the "U" and on the right side of the "U" is my pressing area on an extended leaf table. I love my small Rowenta because it is very light weight, the point on the iron gets into tiny spaces and wow the steam is awesome. I don't have to jump up from the sewing machine or serger to run to the big ironing board. All I do now is turn my swivel sewing machine chair from the sewing machine to the ironing area. It cuts down on lost time jumping up and going back to the machine. I work with mostly Civil War Quilts and some of the pieces end up being 1/2" x 1/2" and a ton of fussy ironing and trimming. I have a cutting pad that turns 360 degrees and fits perfectly on my extended ironing table which makes for a quick swap between ironing and cutting. Took me a while to figure this system out for sure and it does allow me to do more sewing than running LOL.

I have a Panasonic with 3-way auto off. I wasn’t crazy about it because I always had to unplug it and replug in to get it to turn on after I turned it off. What a hassle! Then one day I accidentally tried to turn it back on it with the iron plate flush to the ironing board. Eureka!! The missing link. Now it works and I like it.

I just purchased a portable iron by Cohotek. I like it a lot. The cord isn’t as long as the Rowenta, but it’s sufficient.

My hobby is quilting and when I make blocks, I need to often iron. So I have the Oliso and I love the way it stands on its legs when my hand is not on it, but after 3/4 months use, when you fill it with water, and the steam button is off.... the iron makes steam, and there is no way to stop it! :( but after a while, it stoppes, but half water is gone !) I also have the little Prym iron (when I want to sew and iron, sew and iron... near my sewing machine) and a Philips cordless iron (very useful not to have the cord) , but as I have not a big place to iron, my preference goes to the Oliso, no need to think to put it on its back, I iron and push it away from my fabric, and the ironing is easy and well done (sorry for my english, I'm french ;) )

I own a small travel iron. Cheap $20 number. It only has 3 steam holes at the top and gets very hot. I wanted it that way. I can get steam happy and this keeps me from using it too much. Press, not iron mantra sounding in my head. It also does not have an annoying auto shut off. I also own an expensive steamer, a large machine press, and an household Rowenta iron. However, none get the workout my tiny cheap little travel iron gets. It is like a partner for my sewing machine.

I have an Oliso Pro Iron, Oliso Mini, Reliable Regular Size, Clover Mini, LauraStar, AND I just got a Panasonic Cordless. I think the cordless will allow me to have the best of both a small and regular iron when i do a lot of piecing and not have to worry about a cord knocking everything around/over.

I have the same travel Rowenta and love it. I use a separate iron for my fuseable projects, I have a Rowenta I like for pressing, but it goes through a lot of water. I am curious about the Oliso Irons specifically the pink one. Does anyone feel its worth the price?

When using the Clover iron, have a big heavy mug to put it into. I agree about that dumb little stand. I also have that Rowenta travel iron and do use it. But my favorite so far is my little 'SteamFast'. I think it was only 20.00 on amazon. I love the handle/grip. I just got and immediately returned the 50.00 Oloso Mini. Bad reviews on the heating. Poor design about leaving it on the silicon pat as opposed to standing it up on its heel. And I hated the uncomfortable way you have to grip it. Thank you for the video.

I have the Rowenta iron and really like it, however, I pressed hard on the handle and it collapsed on my fingers. I can still use it but I do not put any pressure on the handle.

Did you make sure that the handle was fully locked in the upright position? It has to be pulled up and it clicks into place. Just a thought.

Chatterbox Quilts I am may not have but I did put a way too much pressure on it I was trying to flatten the centre seams in a pinwheel block, I know entirely my fault. I still love the iron to travel with.

Does the Rowenta have a stand or how do you keep it from burning ironing board between pressings?

No, it doesn't have a stand - it sits on the end as do most regular irons.

I am mending a quilt (hand sewing 3in. squares peices). the corners are hard for me to make sharp. I am wondering if it would be helpful for me to use a small iron to press the squares first? my problem when I do that is the squares are not all the exact same size anymore. I am a new-b to quilting. another Q i have... so I need to use quilting thread? what is the difference. poly/cotton blend , polyester, 100% cotton? I think someone along the way said to use quilting thread because it is smoother.

I have several irons! An Oliso 1600 watt, a Rowenta 1715 watt , a Conair 1875 watt and a Rival 1100 watt. I bought the Rival because it is lightweight but at 1100 watts it’s not quite hot enough. The Rowenta is hot and heavy. The Conair is big and hot. The Oliso has a learning curve, you don’t prop it up which makes it less tiresome when pressing as you piece. It is heavy though. I inherited a Clover many years ago and have yet to use it. The Oliso was my main iron, kept next to my sewing machine until a cat knocked it onto a plastic bag. It was still warm and needs a good cleaning 😖
