Information On Hybrid Pools

I have a hybrid pool (fiberglass sides 3 ft down to safety ledge) then concrete to final 10ft depth at deep end) that is now 51 years old. Never have seen any information on one and you just scared the crap out of me!! It's definitely not leaking now per bucket test and I've owned it for 31 years now.

Me too, bought the house 2yrs ago, learned it was a "hybrid pool" after a year thinking about how to resurface it.. It was built in 1971, no leaks, looks fine except the paint job.. Trying to learn how to paint it now.

Hi. My hybrid pool is draining. I suspect it is due to the seams where the concrete meets the fiberglass. How can I fix that? I cant find any info.

I believe my pool is steel panels and concrete floor. Looking to repaint entire pool. My process: drain, clean, let it dry, acid wash, let it dry and paint with epoxy. While its empty, fill the panels joints; its not leaking, no rust, no shifting? Figured, shoot the joints now as a precaution? Older pool. Any help or suggestions is appreciated. Thank you

So are you calling a pool with a pool krete vermiculite bottom a hybrid pool?

Concrete floor and fiberglass walls is an example of a hybrid pool.

Drop a vinyl liner in it?

@@mommahydro if the walls start to shift a liner won't help. you might be able to ad a coping for a liner - maybe.... but the walls and the skimmer to me are the weak points. a relative had a hybrid pool it was fun as i was a kid, but they were fussy about it. don't touch those lines on the walls....don't go near the skimmer.

Just got a quote today to replace my hybrid pool today. It’s a big number but I cannot justify putting money in to my failing hybrid pool.

you would think as a extra measure of precaution if high water table or if pool was going to be empty and you didnt want it to float or heave you could for extra measure. depending on how you are setting up your main drains. if the other orifice is just capped or whatever, then there's no point obviously

I always thought a hybrid pool was just a combination of an above ground and in ground pool. Pools that are built on a slope with one side below ground and one side above ground.

Thanks for a great channel on pools! Hello, my pool is concrete with waterproofing added to the mix. We have 12" tiles as the complete interior surface. My question is about the grout. Do I have to use epoxy grout, or can I use cement grout and apply a sealer. Because if our pool shell is water proof already, what is the need for epoxy grout. Maybe just added protection against leaks? Thank you so much! Larry from the Phillipnes!
