When I was a kid, we lived in Newark, DE. I would ride my bike down Harmony Rd. to what was the PRR tracks, the Penn Central. I would watch the trains in amazement. I remember the passenger trains, the Metroliners, and the freight trains. That’s was back in 1971 , 1972. IDK if freight trains still use these tracks. Does Amtrak own the tracks of the NE corridor?

Yes they do. There is some limited freight service, but it runs mostly at night.

Congratulations on 10K. I first found your channel looking for Amtrak Acela really like your videos of the Northeast corridor cannot believe how fast those trains are. After I finish watching this going to look at your newest upload celebrating 10K last night girlfriend and I watched the three videos of SEPTA. She has been in Florida since 1966 but grew up in levittown she could not believe the changes. The big story in Florida recently has been bright line unfortunately they had a bad crash in Hollywood yesterday train hit a semi truck stopped on the tracks hauling automobiles I don't think anyone was hurt but they have too many cross streets along the east coast I'm afraid this is going to happen because people don't know any better than to stop on the tracks. You have a good channel

This is a cool video to watch. RRHG does a great job labeling landmarks. A few seconds before something would pass by, I'd think, "I wonder if his subtitles are going to point this out?" And every time....he did! I grew up in the DC area. Spent many afternoons in the 70's and early 80's with my dad watching trains at Ivy City, Landover, and two (long since removed) grade crossings at Glenn Dale ( 11:49) and one east of Bowie (Zug Road 12:24). While looking for evidence of the old crossings, I noticed someone has a red caboose in their backyard (12:20) Wonder if it's somehow related to the tracks nearby?

My goal is to retire in France where HSR top speeds are 320kph (198mph) on most lines. All around Europe, HSR is being deployed to reduce the need to fly short distances between major cities. What used to take 8h+ by train can now be done in less than 4h in many cases allowing city-center to city-center service without having to travel out to an airport, get through "security" and wait an hour before boarding. I want to live in the future we should have been building over the last 50 years but cheap oil kept us in cars far too long.

Don't know if it's result of track improvements or whether you were in a better Acela trainset, or perhaps position in consist of Quiet Car, but at least between WAS and BAL and beyond it looked - and sounded - like a smoother ride than some of your other Acela trips.
