Have you ever seen anyone check a one dollar bill to see if it's counterfeit? Counterfeiters probably aren't going to be doing one dollar bills. Get the pen with the ultra-violet light that detects the security strip in bills from 5 dollars on up. They are relatively cheap and work great. I have one and would only use it if I was selling something where someone pays me in cash (and cash is all that I will accept.)
