"Does his accent sound weird though?" - If you speak german (well) you'll say, it sounds quite good, but a little weird. The acting, includinng the accents, in this film, are perfect. It's mostly because the germans are played by german actors, the french by french, and so on.

I have mixed feelings about Inglorious Basterds. On the one hand, it has some brilliant performances (Christoph Waltz obviously being the standout) and also some excellent dialogue scenes that gripped me and I still go back and watch, like the opening scene between Landa and the French dairy farmer and the scene with Michael Fassbender and the other two German undercovers during the basement party. However, I agree with you Hendo that I don't think this film is in the same league as classic Tarantino, like Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs. Also, I wasn't a big fan of the winks and nods that Tarantino does to other movie genres like the Spaghetti western, but that's mainly because I'm not a big fan of the Spaghetti western genre in general. Last thing as well, I thought there were a lot of parts in the film that were tedious and dragged on longer than they needed to be. Like the scenes between Shoshana and Zoller felt a lot like filler material and could've been shaved down or cut out altogether frankly.
@TheMovieJourney2 жыл бұрын

@@TheMovieJourney You don't have to avoid them on my account. I just think Spaghetti Westerns are more about style and spectacle over narrative, and I'm a narrative guy. @ginao6810 Жыл бұрын
@@billhicks6449yes but it has a narrative and a lot of other influences. Spaghetti westerns we’re pumped out by studios when they became a fad. Formulated and repetitive. They are the Lifetime movies of their era. Tarantino loved spaghetti westerns as a child. He takes elements of the genre and infuses them, along with a wide variety of other influences, in stories and scenes far beyond the scope of the formula.

Am I the only one who thinks Tarantino get lost in his alternate reality and the all too graphic drawn out violence here? It's like this movie can't decide if it wants to be a comedy or an homage to old splatter b-movies. I know some like to watch it and the point is to show noone is alll the way good in a war, but I think Tarantino uderestimates his audience to think for themselves. I also thought things went a little too easy for the americans here with Brad Pitt coming off more like a comedic playboy than a believable military in the US army. I mean the film is fiction but there has to be some plausibility even within a fiction version of reality, right? Sometimes a film is more effective when it doesn't show everything and lets you use your own imagination. That's why 'Jaws' and 'Pulp Fiction' still works for exemple. To me these kind of over the top violence feels kind of tasteless concidering what's going in Ukraine for example right now. But that's just me.
@ginao6810 Жыл бұрын
That’s the reason I have never watched Django Unchained. I don’t want to see the violence, even though I have heard so many great things about the film and love most of Tarantino’s work. I think Tarantino’s views movie violence is wanky. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. The man needs to know how to edit. (Not in terms of constructing a film/story, in terms of paring down unnecessary footage). I feel like he gets worse (at this) with every film.
@kolapse320 Жыл бұрын
Nah you are just too stupid to understand all Tarantino movies change history for the better and the over the top violence is his signature and makes the movie fun to watch.
