To know that some of these songs were written in the time period before Lovesexy gives Ingrid's album even more heft than it already has. To realize that this was the person who inspired him to write his greatest album leaves me in even more awe.

I actually loved Ingrid a lot more than Apollonia in Purple Rain. It's two different characters but there's a similarity, you can tell. And when it comes to people sharing real stories about Prince, it's always so interesting to hear them. I have never heard - by anyone - one single story about Prince that would be classical or ordinary. He was pure uniqueness, no wonder those stories were so unique too. Those people though they were really so lucky meting him, knowing him, collaborating with him, etc.. :-)🍀💜You can see, till today, deep admiration, respect and appreciation sparkling in their eyes when they are asked about him, starting to speak.. We can only imagine such moments, but I guess being in his presence was an experience you really thank God for and don't wanna let go of... :-D😎💜

Sorry but Ingrid was a big part of why Graffiti Bridge paled in comparison to Purple Rain. I dont blame her so much (she really couldn't act) but her character was not likable or accessible. You dont care about her the way you cared about Apollonia in Purple Rain. And Apollonia had way more acting chops. Now Graffiti Bridge was unfairly trashed despite it not being as good as Purple Rain or Under The Cherry Moon (which was also unfairly trashed). I love all of the Prince movies
@p-jaywade1333 Жыл бұрын
@@christophertracy2807It was trashed because it was a studio set movie. They weren't on location for anything and the script was horrible. The original sequel was supposed to be called After The Dawn but he didn't want to work with Albert Magnoli anymore. Then Kim Basinger came along with a script she wrote. The two of them fell out so he wasn't using that either. It could have been better.

Wonderful interview. I like hearing about the time leading up to the releave of Lovesexy. Both me and Cherise loved that album when it came out. I was under the impression the Black Album was abruptly cancelled just before release because he recieved a letter from a man named Gregory, While Prince never publicly mentioned Gregory's full name in the context of the letter, later accounts, including from biographers and fans piecing together the story, identify him as Gregory Allen Howard. who some believe sent Prince a letter in the late 1980s, around the time "The Black Album" was about to be released. The letter described a spiritual or metaphysical narrative where The It mentioned a dream involving Jimi Hendrix and the concept of a "soul baby," suggesting some form of reincarnation or spiritual continuation of Hendrix's legacy through Prince or his music. Prince did indeed mention a letter he received that influenced his decision to pull "The Black Album." Here's what we can gather from available information: Conclusion: Is the Letter Real? Based on Prince's statements, it seems the letter was real and had a significant impact on him. However, without the letter itself or more witnesses to its content, some elements could be seen as part of Prince's mythos or artistic narrative. Fantasy Element: While the core of the story - Prince receiving a letter from Gregory - appears to be grounded in fact, the mystical or spiritual content of the letter, especially the part about Jimi Hendrix and a "soul baby," might be interpreted as more symbolic or metaphoric, fitting into Prince's known use of spiritual themes in his music and life. In summary, the letter from Gregory is part of Prince's lore, with enough evidence from Prince's own words to suggest it was real, but the details remain largely unconfirmed beyond what Prince chose to disclose.

I agree with you on her appearance today. Very plain. But back in the day she had a seductive weird look. Pussy can do powerful things for weird women. It can make them look very out of this world. After about 3-5 ejaculations and you learn that they have a brother named Earl and a Mother named Peggy, thats an extreme alcoholic, its gets old and scary.

Not her fault but GB was such a terrible movie. I saw it in the theater, ONCE. It was just so cheesy. It was obviously filmed entirely in Paisley Park. All the "outdoor" scenes were clearly shot indoors, on a sound stage.....worse looking movie than Highlander 2. The titular bridge was such a sad stagehand construction. Totally unimpressive and fake looking. How hard is it to find a real bridge with some graffiti? Prince was a genius, but sometimes he had his head up his ass when it came to quality, especially if his "muse" of the day was involved.

I've just watched it for the first time now. Yep it was really dreadful. Terrible movie that should never have been made. Ingrid was the best thing in it. I've heard a lot about her but never seen her until tonight. He cancels the Black Album the night they meet. She inspires Lovesexy but he doesn't set her up as a solo artist like the other women like Carmen & Jill etc???
