Don't believe the other comments. This movie is agonizingly terrible. For example, within the first 20 minutes, you'll see a wealthy major city DA go to her just deceased father's estate for the reading of his will. She gets about 1/100th of his nine-figure valued estate plus the key to a padlock on a barely concealed access to an underground shelter in her backyard. She goes in and finds a nearly dead person in a room chained by the neck to a fastening point on the ceiling. The person, presumably unattended for several days since her father's death, is dying of thirst, starvation, or both. So this, DA chick, runs in fright out of the bunker and back into the house. Does she get water, medical attention, or even ask the person how they got tied up? No. She proceeds to go about the rest of her day like nothing odd just happened. I stopped watching at this point because neither I nor a general audience is going to believe someone that ditzy and inattentive could function as a DA.

Really good movie but faulty story ... 1. Why will the father not leave a letter explaining the man in the hole with his lawyer for her. 2. No woman keeps a rapist child if she has a choice. 3. Why didn't the father leave her the responsibility of him, knowing she has a big heart. The wife was better suited for that responsibility. 4. If he's the bad guy why did the father confide in him about the family n mistress. Too much that makes no sense.

@@lil_jon411 read my 2nd point carefully, I said who keeps a rapist child if SHE HAS CHOICE, They probably kept the child under duress n yes my opinion will always be mine. My friend's aunt kept the child too only bc she was not allowed to get rid of the baby girl, that lady ran as far as she could to another country to not be near her daughter. On her death bed the girl tried to go see her but she died the day before the child reached her side. She insists she never wanted to be a mother to her child conceive by rape.

Read a few negative reviews on this film. Yet, I still watched it, because I was paid to do so (I work in local broadcasting). I found that the movie was watchable. The twist was interesting because it was withheld until the very end. Yes, Simon Pegg was the savior. Not bad, I'd say.

No, the writing was pretty bad, the plot twist could have been good but didnt reveal enough, the ending with her mom was off because there was never any relationship built with them. Overall alot of stuff could have been way better. Build up and base plot was ok but it kinda fell off at the end.

I just saw this movie and WOW, it had me glued from beginning to end. Its easily in my top 5 movies to watch. I actually feel Simon Pegg's part would have carried on to part 2 and part 1 just ended with him controlling the family after he was set free.

whoops, let me try that again, lol.... How much evil could Simon be in this? He is both a serial killer and a rapist. Had he lived, he would've left Lauren and Catherine chained up in the bunker to slowly starve to death. He was going to kill Laurens husband and child. He was going to slit the deeps throat. Plus god knows what else the man did before being imprisoned.

The plot in this movie is crap. **Spoiler Alert** Do not read this comment if you have not seen the movie. First, the father would never trust his goodie-two-shoes daughter with a secret he never told anyone bacuse it could destroy the famliy. He claims it's because she's the oldest, but she is not even his daughter, so, why would that make any difference in his decision? He only gave her 1 million, so clearly it did bother him. He would have told his son about it because his son would have definitely kept him there or killed him. So, none of that plot makes sense. Second, the mother says, "that man is evil," but her husband seems to be evenore evil that that guy. I mean, he breaks a guy'a neck because he hit him with a car and then imprisoned a man for decades to keep him quiet. There's no way she didn't know he was doing shit like that. I'm not saying the rapist isn’t evil, just that it's a stupid thing for her to say given the context. Third, why would the guy not just kill him? He killed a random guy he hit with a car. I guess he wanted to punish the guy, but it sounds like he wasn't planning to imprison him for the rape, just for shutting him up about the car accident. Which, again, would make the father way more evil than the other guy. It also doesn't make sense because he got stabbed with the poison he bought to kill the rapist. Like, after decades he suddenly decides to kill him? Why? And why would he be dumb enough to let the guy get the poison? If he bought it to killhim, wouldn't he just kill him? Stupid plot with TONS of holes.

This movie was complete trash. It had so much potential and then just quit on itself. Why do these plot writers continuously decide that the villian needs to make some grandiose speech when he has the protagonist completely at his mercy and then fuck it up and get done in? How original. He’s supposedly some kind of criminal mastermind but somehow missed the gun he got shot with? The ending was a complete sell out!
