The cement weighing 300g is taken and it is mixed with Percentage of water as determined in consistency test. The cement paste is filled in the vicat mould. The square needle of cross section 1mm× 1mm is attached to the moving rod of the vicat apparatus. The needle is quickly released and it allowed to penetrate the cement paste in tge begging the needle penetrate completely.it is then taken out and dropped at a fresh place the procedure is repeated at regular intervals till the needle does not penetrate completely the needle should penetrate upto about 5 mm measured from bottom. The initial settings time is the interval between the addition of water to cement and the stage when needle cease to penetrate completely.thia time should be about 30 minutes for opc

In serial no 3 the percentage of water taken is 32% i.e 80ml..at 32%we obtained standard consistency.so for IST we have to take 0.85*80=68ml..

The Weight of cement taken in this case is 250g. So, 32% of 250 = 80ml 0.85 * 80 = 68ml

Don't give half half information 1)when ur add water timer should starts 2) for make penidation should need 2differnt diameter needle 3)use for determine initial setting time for 3mm needle 4)use for final setting time smaller mean 1mm 5)waterquantity=0.85×standard consists ofwater(like 0.32)×weight of cement (may you take 250 gram)
