Love the look. Inks instead of paint may make this easier. High pigment load and low viscosity. Should help not to trap bubbles.

Crazy idea - for some models, a shaped cavity could add something to the model. For instance, in the doom slayer suit, having the cavity be the shape of a person might be cool.

Interesting idea! I wonder though did you need to keep all that pain inside? What about draining it out, the inner walls would still be painted so you would get almost the same effect.

If you printed one arm as a separate object you would have an easier time injecting. If you add a key at the joint, it would allow you to attach the two prints seamlessly with epoxy

Maybe water the paint down for easier flow into the model. That should eliminate the need for drainage in the arms.

Having a table top vibrator might be useful to spread the paint and get rid of air bubbles. It works wonders spreading stone on a dental impression.

I love idea. I'm going to use it on a ghostly model than I'm making. That being said if you had either painted-on or airbrush on an ink or a shade to the outer part of the model, the pop the definition in said. It might be slightly easier.
@Ultimaniacx4

I think thinning the paint would help it slosh around and reach all the nooks and crannies inside. You don't need a solid filling of paint, you just need the inner walls to be coated to get the effect.

It's an interesting idea although how successful it will be depends a lot on the model. Some models may require internal supports even when hollow, for example, or may have thin portions that will prevent the paint from entering. Also I assume the paint inside won't ever really dry?

If you want to make a solid resin print without breaking the bank you could use a low viscosity, low shrinkage casting resin that could be dyed any color you want. Adding iron powder to the mix would make it even weightier. Apply that thought to the translucent skin, and BOOM!... awesomeness.
@AndrewSink
@AndrewSink 2 жыл бұрын
Wouldn’t the iron powder sink to the bottom of the vat during printing?
@KCDarkRanger
@KCDarkRanger 2 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewSink I wouldn't add the iron to the printing resin, but the casting resin that you fill the hollow print with. Probably didn't explain it well. Swap paint for filling with a 2 part resin.

@legacyofbob
@legacyofbob 3 жыл бұрын
I wonder if the paint will ever dry like this? You might consider tinting some epoxy instead and filling with that as it would harden and provide a lot of strength which may come in handy for any structural prints.

Cool. Tbh you should probably be vacuuming the ink into the model. Look into luer lock fittings. Also there are inks that UV cure so that's definitely an option. Edit: as for luer locks.. print an extra bit that you can cut off that has the threads on the model. Basically a sprue.

So what but look like when the paint dries up? You didn't just paint the inside and then let the existing paint leak out where you just ended up with a painted interior? It seems like you left liquid paint in the core of the model and as it dries it will shrink and crack?

Why not just use the same resin in clear and mix in ink/pigment and let insides get coated, then drain out excess and cure in the curing station then fill in holes... That way you don't have all that excess paint trapped...
