Injured deputy's family asks Citrus County Sheriff's Office for more compassion

Deputy Lahera was nearly killed while on the job. He was hit by a teenage driver near Lecanto High School while directing traffic on South Lecanto Highway after a graduation ceremony. “Basically, every part of his body was broken, including his orbital eye socket. He had punctured lungs, broken ribs, you know, anything that could have happened, he had it,” the deputy’s wife, Michelle Lahera, explained. One year later, many of those injuries have healed. However, the deputy is still hospitalized in long-term acute care because his brain is still recovering after sustaining a traumatic injury during the incident.

Prendergast also killed a man in his own deputy SUV while reports of people smelling alcohol on him. But they did not test him at the scene. He tried to blame the victim. He also drove a while before stopping and turning around. Not in troible at all. Then Andy gets hit, and the girl who hit him has her family pay of CCSO. She got in NO trouble for what she did to Andy. Yall need to look into Citrus County Sheriffs Office.

Sheriff dips after saying "highly skewed" about the families concerns. Ummm... why? ---- I don't have a pony in this race so just explain yourself? Convince me that Sheriff didn't mean that as callous as it sounds?

Why is a sheriff driving a mustang in the first place let alone a schooo resource officer and settled case law says a cop has no duty to protect anybody unless the person is in custody
