*They should start thinking about Plan B. There are excellent players in the NWSL that could replace those who are injured. Spain replaced all those who rebelled a few years ago. The result was that the new, inexperience players won the last World Cup and are the first in the FIFA ranking.*
@TheRumblewagon9 ай бұрын
That's what's needed for the USWNT. Anyone not on board with Emma Hayes's vision should be left by the wayside. Those Spanish players who mutinied, several eventually came back and got on board with the mission. And now they're World Champions.

Huge difference. Spain has a system in place for their youth, men and women. The USA doesn't have that, especially with a new manager coming in.

If the stoppage time is added to bring it back to 90 minutes then it's not really adding extra games it's just making them play the minutes they are actually supposed to! Still 3 games a week is way to much added time or not.
@T.R.759 ай бұрын
is added time really an issue here? that added time is time made up because they arent playing. theyre standing around waiting on something. so in reality, the players are simply playing too a full 90 with said added time. i cant believe this is even an issue. frequency of matches i can get behind, but dont try and sell me on added time.

We have too much talent to be worried about a few players. Our biggest issue the last 4 years was the coaching and player moral, not talent.

They aren't playing during VAR review and if they don't want other time added they shouldn't waste time in the game. I think it's more of the preseason tournament and the fact that the women's game still doesn't have infrastructure that's needed to minimize injuries.
@beckyedmonds40789 ай бұрын
they aren't playing, but there's a reason people do warm ups, to stay loose. you can definitely get tight in those gaps, and then have to play additional added time.

Based on Gaetino's consistently poor defensive performance in the Champions League, it would not be advisable to suggest that Davidson be replaced by her. Davidson has shown better one-on-one defensive skills and more defensive intelligence than Gaetino. In fact, Davidson's skills in this area are far superior to Gaetino’s, and she would be a much better option defensively at all.

Increase the number of the NWSL squads and give other players minutes, there are so many young players lacking gametime, alot of these young players could be getting minutes in the ECNL and college.

That Gold Cup tournament just appeared at a very wrong time on the calendar. Most US team players hadn't really even begun their club pre-seasons yet were expected to jump in and play a full "Olympic-like" tournament when not really ready - then jump directly into club seasons. That kind of disruption to the fitness recycling for a pro athlete in almost any sport is very risky. I think that is one contributing factor. Most of the teams have improved their facilities, but I don't have direct knowledge, team by team, what kind of medical and physical training facilities are available. These factors can be controlled. What is more difficult to control in any sport - assuming the athlete and the training staff are meticulous in training and warmups - is how much work is enough before you sub out a player? That's on the coach to figure that out, but the coach needs honest feedback from the players. And after all that, it's a roll of the dice, really. It's a sport, like many, that makes demands on the human body it just wasn't designed to do.

@@HowardAllen-qz5yu Champions league is the best club tournament in the world with arguably the second best club in the world Lyon also the most sucessful women's champions league club ever Lyon and you think they won't concede, watch how many goals they will score against Barca in the final, Gaetino is good playing out of the back and she is solid cover for defense. Psg didnt reach the uwcl semis with a bad defense or win the coupe de france with a bad defense, go and watch her full games and stop making conclusions based on highlights u watched. @@xoomlens i carefully reviewed the full psg vs lyon back to back champions league match and thoroughly analyzed gaetino's consistent defensive errors. Its clear that she lacks defensive intelligence, unlike davidson and girma, who are arguably the most astute and clever defenders in the world. gaetino has a lot of work to do to reach their level, and I strongly believe that she should not be included in the olympic roster. if they're injured, i suggest other defenders from nwsl like gordon to step in.
