Raiden has a lot of potential as a character. Many players cross him out mainly because of him not having "neutral". But there are characters that has the same problem but considered as "Good" such as flash and darkseid.

PNDK&M IMO their all gimmicky in someways tho. Flash with RMS 50/50s, darkseid with Boomtube crossups, and raiden with Trait to stopped lightning ball to sparkport. I just feel that he IS a viable character, good sir.

Your examples aren't gimmicks though, Most of flash's RMS stuff is + on block and his 50/50s are legit unreactable. Darkseids setups are also unreactable in a lot of situations. whereas raidens sparkport into lightning ball is much easier to see and defend against due to him not actually having ways to mix you into it. I feel like Raiden is viable too, but definitely on the lower end of the spectrum and is absolutely in no way comparable to The Flash or Darkseid.

PNDK&M Hmmm yea you’re right. Maybe raiden could be better if his trait duration is longer for like 3secs more, and reduce the cool down by 2secs. Because he is better with his trait on right? It’s the least they can do for that character to make him better.

Sonic dropped Cold even before nerfs, after losing some matches at events with him. He did know what he was doing though - Cold was great against characters who couldn't ignore his spacing games, some of which were pretty powerful against most of the cast. Like CW. This being the game of counterpicks, it worked as intended to an extent. In no way it was an indication that Cold was good overall. In fact, it only shown that he is not well-rounded at all.

Annokh good points but because it is basically a games of counter picking every character is not completely rounded. Every character has counter characters that can b used against them, there has to b at most 2 or 3 characters that can b countered using raiden

As a Raiden player I do not recommend this combo, only because you need to have full or 3/4 of your trait bar, because if you do not, the combo won't work. That is why 12D3,ex shocker,b3,dash forward,3 into db2,j3,123,superman is better, because even if you don't have half trait you will still hit this b3 in the beginning of the combo and you will have like 45%+ dmg

You are missing the point of the video or have not watched it all the way through. This lightning ball launch does more damage than MB shocker, and works off everything MB shocker works off with exception of d1 perhaps. the combo requires half a trait bar which is practical in neutral and I demonstrated a reliable way of setting up to open your opponent up with as much trait bar as possible. Also your annotations are wrong so I'm not too sure what you're referring to, i'm assuming you mean 21d3 as opposed to 12d3 and f123 ender.

Yeah I meant 21d3 and f123, and also I know that you need half of trait bar to hit this combo, but if the only way to do it is when you can punish someone it's not reliabe mostly because no one who is sane will wake up vs Raiden with full trait ...

I think hes alright can't denied the fact that he needs buff but his teleport can be tricky in trait besides normal teleport in just in trait keep far teleport away just to throw your opponent off and when he least expect for u to teleport in just meter burn into to teleport and go for the combos it ain't a great mind game but it seems to work out for me had people telling me they wasn't expecting it cause Most raidan players always telliport in right away.

I actually play raiden often and I win much more than lose his great ,what he lacks in neural he makes up for in the corner, his destroys anyone in corner and it's easy to get people in corner with superman off whip punishes, d2 into f123 and others I have no problem with him

i am a raiden main as well even though everyone says he bottom tier i love him and always will. he is so much fun and this really helps a ton. keep up the good work and show some more raiden pls. i think he has a lot of potential especially with his trade and with the electric current variation that gives you a lot of mixup potential. greetings

Yes but this video is about getting MB lightning bolt off of EVERYTHING, MB bolt connects after 21/f21 and 112 in the corner but realistically they arent buttons you throw out midscreen to hitconfirm or attempt a mixup, with the exception of 112 in the corner, but this still nets you more damage anyway!

Sparkport mix is no good. Although, I still play raiden. Oh, and the execution on sparkport is extremely tight. Also, for some reason in this game, opponents block both sides mix ups while crouching. And I feel like raiden is set up for failure in this game for that exact reason.

Sparkport has uses in places there is an overhead, such as f3xxsparkport or 112xxsparkport(sameside) so theyre holding back to block and you hit them on the other side. a couple examples but obviously requires a bar every time as well.

It’s just not fair that raiden has to spend a bar just to open someone up. Sparkport is his best mix. Yet it’s still no good in this game. It’s too iffy. He’s easily the worst in the game to me. Do you have an xbone? I’d love some raiden mirrors.

Samourai I just don't see how any character can be worse than the newly nerfed Captain Cold. Raiden isn't great, but he has huge damage off of certain strings, has mobility, and has fast buttons. Cold has tools that work in literally like two matchups, and a bunch of highs that will never open someone up for every other matchup. I just can't conceive Raiden being worse than that, even if he is Mr. No-Neutral

You're talking about a big damage for a character but you didn't even mention that's with a trait. Raiden is not that good character but still playable. For me if you use trait then it's not a optimal stuff talks.

Bago Silo Of course it’s still optimal with trait. Proper trait usage is a big part of characters, and this entire video is about the most damage Raiden can do, which requires trait. It’s like using Superman trait to increase his damage. The whole reason characters have traits are so they’re used, and this helps make the most of Raiden trait.
